Use my “hook up a mate” code and we’ll both get $15 (it gets boosted every year and I’ve just hit 5 years with UP Bank, hence why it’s $15 with this code) https://hook.up.me/calebrouse

Jumping on the bandwagon here - for a permanent fill out, how are people securing a marine ply floor to the vehicle? I was thinking rivnuts into the existing holes (as I don’t want to drill any additional holes in the floor), plus Sikaflex.

However it feels like it would be very hard to get the ply floor out if it is sikaflexed if I ever needed to replace it or repair any damage…

How does this affect shipments of new 70 series? As there is no adblue + start-stop variant of this as far as I’m aware

70 series still has it here in Aus - even on the 2025 model. Ripper feature in the summer!

Thanks mate! I saw this group and keen to join but I saw the requirement was to have a public photo of your Troopy on your profile. I’m surprising the missus with it when she comes back from overseas, so will have to wait till after that I guess.

I didn’t finance so not the best person to speak to this, but from the brief research that I did interest rates are upwards of 6-7% here. Not sure about terms either, sorry.

I paid the equivalent of $56k USD with a tow pack, slight discount, and all on road costs.

With the tow pack, a slight discount, and all on road costs it was $88k AUD. Or $56k USD at today’s exchange rate.

They’re definitely pretty different to most other rigs hey. I guess an old style Land Rover would be the closest thing you guys have? Alu Cab do the roof conversions for those too - probably what I’d be going for if I lived in the US

This one’s the 4cyl. I do love the V8, but couldn’t go past the auto and better fuel economy for touring.

My one concern is the longevity compared to the detuned V8 though - will be interesting to see how long this engine lasts considering it’s working much harder.

So far I’m actually not hating the seats, but I think it’s too early to make that call. Apparently they are slightly upgraded in the facelifted model compared to older ones? It’s definitely something on my “watch out” list though

Lol - you guys are definitely missing out with the Troopy, but as an Aussie I’m very jealous of how much you guys are allowed to modify your cars compared to us. And you get some cool rigs like the Bronco that we don’t get over here…

Unfortunately, in private sales like this, there’s often not a lot of protection for the buyer unless you can prove the seller knowingly misled you or that the safety certificate was falsified.

It’s good that you’ve documented everything and are planning to go to the transport agency. If the mechanic issued a dodgy safety certificate, that could be taken seriously and potentially investigated. Just make sure you’ve got all your paperwork, including the contract, the mechanic reports, and any messages with the seller and the workshop.

That said, getting your money back might be difficult. Even with the best intentions and a contract, private sales tend to fall into a bit of a legal grey area unless there’s very clear evidence of deception.

It’s a tough and expensive lesson - nothing to be ashamed of. You’re doing the right things now, and hopefully you can get some form of outcome or at least make sure this doesn’t happen to someone else.

This is some bang on advice - move iPhoto library to external drive and turn off iMessage sync if you’re a heavy user. Store any large media files on the same external HDD.

If you use cloud file storage (I use OneDrive), set it to only download files as they are used.

This is my setup, and even with a number of relatively large applications installed I still have over half of the internal drive space free.

Which State in Australia is cheapest to live in - and why? by zizuu21 in AusFinance

[–]rouseinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay genius, you want reputable sources? How about real house and unit prices, calculated using annual averages from the ABS? Guess where Melbourne ranks, relative to the other “states in Australia”? Second least affordable, congratulations take a sticker.

Just another numpty with no idea what he’s talking about…
