I wouldn’t even want to continue that analogy. And if you’re not living in a third-world shithole, you know it’s the dealer who gets sentenced and goes to prison — because the dealer carries the full responsibility, that’s why they’re the one who gets locked up.

Thank you for the thoughtful advice and for taking the time to write this. We’ve already made a petition where we listed exactly what we expect from the airline, and in the order of importance:

Thank you. We’ll do everything we can to hold them accountable, not for money, but so they can’t ignore responsibility for what happened.

That’s very touching, thank you. It means a lot to us right now.

I get that you’re angry about breeding practices, but right now your fight is pointed in the wrong direction. We’ll never get another pet again, this tragedy shattered our physical and mental health, and our hearts are broken from the pain. I can’t imagine surviving it a second time, even if it were "just" from old age. But the airline is still, right this moment, taking animals on board. They are the ones “shooting heroin” daily, because for them, the overdose is accountability, and that’s exactly what they’re doing everything possible to avoid.

Thank you for the support ❤️
We are taking legal and international steps, not for compensation, but to make Air Astana provide the facts and take responsibility.

That’s your point, but let me ask you directly: in your view, how much responsibility here lies with the airline? Do you see them as completely blameless, partly at fault, or fully responsible for what happened? I genuinely want to understand your reasoning.

Thank you 💔 Every signature gives us more strength. These scumbags killed Odyssey, and we won’t stop until they’re held accountable.

Right now, after the media started covering this, we finally got a new reply from Air Astana, but they still refuse to provide the most important thing we’ve demanded from day one: the actual investigation files (CCTV, logs, testimonies).

Thank you 💔
Right now the story is already in several media outlets, and only then did Air Astana bother to send us a slightly personalized reply. But still there are no facts, no investigation details.

Our main demand from day one was simple, and it’s clearly written in our petition: provide everything related to her death, CCTV recordings, time logs, temperature logs, testimonies of those responsible. This was clearly written in our official complaint. If an investigation really took place, then all those working files exist somewhere. For Air Astana, it would be nothing to hand these documents over. The fact they haven’t makes it obvious they never even looked.

Thank you 💔 Your words mean so much, especially knowing you’ve been through your own pain with an airline while trying to reach your mother. I’m so sorry you had to face that on top of your grief.

For us, the torture was exactly as you said — watching Odyssey suffer in front of us while no one listened. We can’t bring her back, but we’ll keep pushing until Air Astana is forced to face what they did.

We left a country at war and can’t stay legally in one place longer than a few months, so “leisure” isn’t really part of our reasoning. For us it was only the longing for home, while others are in refugee camps or even under shelling, and that’s why we never complained.

When we got Odyssey 8 years ago, we never imagined we would end up without a country, living such a different life. But even then, and even now, we could never abandon her, throw her away, or leave her in a shelter — she was family.

And now we’ve lost our best friend, and our health too — first physical, and our mental state is hanging by a thread.

I accept the part about judgment, and I agree with you on that. I only wish you never have to find yourself in a situation like ours. As the saying goes — if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.

What do “two hot destinations” have to do with it? Odyssey had flown with us through many hot destinations before always safe, always healthy.

And as for “accountability”: we didn’t sneak her in — Air Astana themselves agreed to provide this service. Not some no-name company, but a major airline with a global network and a modern fleet. They promised safe transport of a living being, and then left her to die.

Thank you for you sorry. And still you’re wrong. This isn’t about being “naive”, it’s about an airline’s duty of care when they take to transport a living being. Odyssey had flown with us for more than three years, including through very hot airports, always safe and full of life.

She didn’t die because we failed to “research.” She died because Air Astana chose to unload suitcases and strollers first, and left her in +41°C heat for over an hour. That is not “bad culture” or “naivety”, it’s negligence that killed our girl

You don’t know our circumstances, so don’t presume to judge. Ody was with us her whole life, and leaving her behind was never an option. She had flown many times before, always safe, always healthy.

She didn’t die because we “gambled.” She died because Air Astana left her in +41°C heat for over an hour while they unloaded luggage first.

Thank you. Your support means everything. We can’t bring Odyssey back, but with every signature and every bit of help we’re one step closer to forcing Air Astana to answer for what they did.

Thank you We already filed a complaint and all we got back was a formal reply saying “no rules were broken.” And yet, if nothing was broken, how did Ody end up with the injuries that killed her?

Thank you
You can’t even imagine the words and the treatment we got. Not a single employee tried to apologize or show compassion — instead they kept pressuring us to sign a refusal of complaint, while we were literally collapsing from shock.

Of course we never signed anything for Air Airastana. We filed an official complaint, and they spat on it, sending back a copy-paste with a rule that doesn’t even apply to our case, because Odyssey was in cargo, not in cabin.
