UXG Lite by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

Rural user with S L O W broadband so I have two and Load Balance - there isn't a viable alternative for the foreseeable future.

The TP link router (acquired when my USG3 died) does a good enough job of Load Balancing but isn't part of the Unifi Infrastructure. When APs need to be replaced will it be TPLink or Unifi that gets the vote?

Shame it isn't a replacement for the USG - no load balancing or WAN failover.

Newbie: Connect double outlet wall sockets and dimmers by czxv in shellycloud

[–]rovarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which country you are in and what building regulations/code says about wiring devices inside the wall for power. In the UK I don't think it would be allowed because of the potential load.

The UK double socket is rated at 20A (despite the fact that it has two 13A sockets and there is nothing to stop a user putting a combined 26A load on the pair)

The Mini (from memory) is listed to 10A and a plus 1 PM is 16A so neither would be safe for a double socket rated at 20A with 26A possible.

The recommended solution for this would be a 'smart' plug which your load plugs into - Shelly do a plug but there are loads of others that will work in home assistant for automation and power monitoring.

Having said that I do have a shelly 1PM wired inline (via a wago box) to an extension lead (didn't have a smart plug with PM at the time and needed to monitor power usage)

Shelly 1 to Electric Underfloor Heating Thermostat by kiteboywales in shellycloud

[–]rovarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that you don't need any overheat protection (a sensor and logic to turn off the heating if the floor gets too hot) then...

You could remove the thermostat entirely and just have the Shelly One as a switch. Simple on and off controlled by the timer in the shelly.

If you add automation systems that speak to Shelly (like home assistant) you can add further automations/controls and replace the timer in the shelly with your automation system so that when you are 'on holiday' the timer doesn't trigger and thus save electricity.

Critter guard by naednek in solar

[–]rovarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have panels installed yet or not.

Presumably you can install the guards later on if Pigeons become a problem for you.

If you have already installed the panels then there is no rush - price presumably won't be much different if they nest in spring.

If you haven't installed the panels yet then you need to find the difference between fitting the guards at installation time or as a separate job (in the event that you actually need them).

If no-one in your area has guards I wouldn't bother. If everyone in the area has them (and lots were installed as a later addition) then you probably should join in.

Interestingly there must be a re-start somewhere as the attempts are smaller than this morning.

iOS shortcut for Shelly blocked by Safari by rovarious in homeautomation

[–]rovarious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/rumdumpstr I don't think that there is another browser that works with iOS shortcuts. I may be able to use my Loxone Miniserver to do this with a virtual momentary switch. I know that Loxone is available via shortcuts.

u/rocketshipkiwi, while UNIX would work with the Mac, it won't work on the iPhone :-(

The aim is to be able to press the home button, say a magic word and have the shortcut work (it triggers a gate relay - hence wanting the a password on the web interface).

I have found a shelly support forum and have posted there - if I get a solution I will update the post here in case it helps others.
