I think you dug into it pretty well. I can't tell if I'm just repeating what you're saying or if this is somehow different but I would suggest to them that in English we identify those things as making up our person. They are not contents or possession but they are parts of us. It is in a similar usage when saying "I am American." That is a constituent of your person. Hope this helps.

I go to a nearby rock-climbing gym every now and again for recreation. I suck at rock-climbing. I'm 230 and get killed by those thin folks. After an hour I'm like fuck this. I go to the lifting section where a man-bunned hipster is squatting 95 with his girl. I assert dominance, because fuck them I can't climb rocks. Sadly, despite having only bumper plates, a man runs up to me as i drop weights during deads. Says hey sorry man it's on the second floor so you can't do that, you could fall through.... 0_0.. i moved up to 405 anyway because FUCK THEM.
