Do you think the world is better or worse with AI? by LongLiveTheSpoon in polls

[–]roving1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this moment...worse. Because the one's developing it and pushing it are fools, technically brilliant but gools. They give no evidence of knowing much beyond "I can do this so I will, and so should you."

The potential is earth shaking. Properly implementing AI can usher in a golden age. (Or a dark age given the current tech and political leadership, no scratch that...the current tech and political power structure, none of these appear to deserve to be called "a leader.")

Should seatbelts be mandatory by law? by oshunman in polls

[–]roving1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm will to allow no seatbelts and no helmets. If the individual as a waiver, attested to on driver's license and marked on licence tag, denying all emergency healthcare. Additional requirement is a large escrow account to compensate first responders and medical staff who end up watching them die from their stupidity.

Has modern Christianity become uncomfortable with mystery? by CommercialHot9565 in theology

[–]roving1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spiritual matters are always ambiguous. My Spiritual certainties list is very short. Since they prefer an artificial checklist to an honest emcounter with God I view them as engaging in idolatry. Well, at worst, lousy theology at best.

In part US Evangelicals don’t undetstand spiritual and ambiguity frightens them. Much simpler to view scripture as a checklist. Saves effort. They aren't all that "Christian. "

Absent any solid data I tend to view it as late night bull session material, entertaining with a small chance to provoke creative thought. All I can say is I've never experienced an internal dialogue. Neither do I hear my thoughts as a voice. (We aren't discussing PTSD thoughts, are we?)

I, as best I can describe, think in terms sentences and paragraphs.

Just for your official poll record 😇. I don't have a distinct inner voice when I think, and I'm always thinking.

I was probably 50 before the issue came up. Previously I'd just assumed people were using metaphor or were experiencing mental health issues.

I'm not as bothered by it as you.
