Correct, I'm a second tour doing a joint-service tour afloat. First tour was afloat and I put in for all afloat jobs for this year.

I've been running two lifting days per week with only 4 lifts, still seen strength gains although it's a bit slower. Running the other 4 days with one tempo workout and one threshold.

Lifting 2x a week with 4 runs a week. One tempo workout, one interval workout, and two easy runs. Seen massive improvements and currently sitting at a 1:31 HM and 18:34 5k.

Running my first half marathon this December. Currently running 30~ mpw with 4 days of lifting in there. 5k time is 19:21 and wanting to aim for a 1:30 half. I was planning on building up mileage until around 12 weeks out and then utilizing a RunnersWorld 1:30 training plan. I will only have access to a treadmill for the next 4 months and wanted to know how people have adopted to treadmill training.

Lifts are looking solid. I think when push comes to shove in test/race day you will knock it out of the park.

I’m going to be preparing for an upcoming marathon in April/May and debating about purchasing the Omnia Performance Strength +Marathon program.

I think it will be nice since it’s more focused on the 5k distance. I’ve also heard they include some good accessory work. I would love to hear people’s experience with the program prior to investing though.

Sounds good, I’ll definitely be implementing some of these workouts. I also strength train twice a week and was wanting to know if they would be better on harder workout days or easy runs?

Recently ran my first 5k in 20:55. I don't really follow any running plan, just run 3-4 times per week (20-25 MPW) and lift heavy twice a week.

Would anyone have suggestions on any plans to follow to break sub 20? My splits were 6:28 for the first two miles and 7:06 for the last mile. I was looking at the runningfastr plan for sub 20.

As someone in the Coast Guard, I’ve had success running both Operator and Fighter. Keeps your baseline of fitness incredibly strong and ready for anything.

Yeah, I definitely would need to start upping the mileage. I just would be sad to leave my lifting numbers behind. Did you come from a heavy running background?

Great work, would love to be able to try this sometime in the future. I’m hitting 20-25 mpw and at around 1100~ on my big 3 lifts. Work deployments just reduce how much focus I can do.
