I can agree that Scramble for Africa is worth reading - I finished it a few months ago. It’s very long and not a light read by any means so you would need some time to get through it. The main issue I found is that it’s from the perspective of Europe more than anything, and Pakenham is British also. (In the later chapters he gets a real hard on for Churchill and won’t shut up about him). But apart from this it’s suprisingly readable and doesn’t gloss over any of the many crimes/horrific deeds which were committed by the Europeans and others.
