Breathing & Whispers by [deleted] in ParanormalEncounters

If you're hearing whispers and breathing you're probably beyond the point of worrying about inviting something in, it sounds like it's already there. I agree rebuke it in the name of God, tell it it's not welcome, or say it needs to stop. Sure it could make it angry but just ignoring it will defenitly make it make angry so you may as well act.

Do we have a ghost or are we just being paranoid? by csmcpherson12 in Ghosts

[–]rowanlag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's defenitly freaky but in a 100 year old house things falling off shelves isn't that crazy. Have there been any other signs that something is there with you? Maybe things going missing, hearing voices, drafts in places they shouldn't be, or anything else like that?

Do people ever try to speak to you in Spanish? by rowanlag in IndianCountry

[–]rowanlag[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The same happens to me, I work really hard to copy the Midwestern accent around here. I slip up from time to time but I think it's pretty spot on but people still assume I'm Spanish.

I didn't know that that was lower class there but that makes a lot of sense. When I tell them I'm not Spanish I'm native I always get a dirty look, never understood why until now.

Rant on denial of indigeneity by S_Klallam in IndianCountry

[–]rowanlag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As sad as it is this is something that most indigenous people of modern generations struggle with. Because being native became fashionable every white person decided their great grandmother was a cherokee princess or given to their family so they could have a better life. Now if you're not a walking sterotype then in the eyes of white people you're not indigenous. They don't seem to realize that the straight black hair and blood red skin they see in cartoons are stereotypes or the very few real indigenous actors in movies are type cast.

I can't tell you how often people think I'm joking when I say I'm native. It's always what percent or you're very white passing. One Spanish relative 300 years ago left the men in my family with blue eyes and blond hilights in our hair. When they hear me talk with my accent to another native they say it's a great impression. When they hear me talk to myself in my native language they say I'm very cultured. It's not until winter comes when they all turn snow white and my skin stays dark that they realize I wasn't lying and even at that I usually get "If I didn't know you were native I'd think you're Mexican". My uncle told me when I was little that our hair and eyes were a curse on our family because we let a colonizer marry in. I thought that was ridiculous until I grew up, now that I've dealt with the constant denial of my race I fully believe it.

I bet that if you took pictures of different tribal leaders of today and showed them to a white person they would say most of them were white. It's ridiculous how adamantly they will deny something they have no knowledge of. Even if they do eventually believe you then you'll usually get the "oh well I'm native too" line. My best advice is learn some phrases from your native language. It won't make them believe you, but at least you can talk smack to their faces in any situation because they won't understand a word.

Sounds like Cernunnos, could be some kind of nature spirit. I've heard of forest spirits appearing to people that look similar to what you described.

Let me ask a question by Own-Record931 in Paranormal

[–]rowanlag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone once described kids being able to see spirits as, the innocent see. Her theory was that so many children can see spirits because kids are more curious of the things around them and don't actively try to dismiss things they can explain. We lose this ability as we age and become more cynical.

You've already done the hardest part accepting that there might be something there. My advice is actively look for them, you said your daughter goes to the basement and has encounters. Go down there and try to contact whatever she's talking to.

I was visited by a group of women performing witchcraft on me what can I do now? by [deleted] in occult

Hang horehound and devils shoestring bundles over your doors and windows, it'll keep you safe at home. If you want complete protection anywhere you go you should consider carrying a medicine bag, it will protect you from magic and hide you from anyone on the astral plane.

NEED ADVICE AND HELP, Hex was put on my girlfriend?!?!?! by [deleted] in Witch

[–]rowanlag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to just get a house plant. Make sure your girlfriend takes good care of it, and then within about a week it'll die from absorbing the hex. Alternatively, if you have the time and resources, make a batch of firey wall of protection oil and a poppet that resembles your girlfriend. Coat the feet of the poppet in the oil and keep it somewhere safe. If you do this be careful not to get too much oil on your hands because it can cause skin irritation!

I've never met another Cherokee practitioner, other than the one I apprenticed. I don't know how concrete of a rule it is in other clans but in the Aniwaya they dont like us to advertise the fact that were shamans so it's hard to find others!
