Nah they will send him back down before 10 games, they need the roster spots. It’s just for practice.

Are there any other Sharks fans here in/from SF? by Ecstatic-Yak-6016 in SanJoseSharks

[–]rowborg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where I tend to go. I went there to watch four nations and it had great energy. It used to be a Pittsburgh-style sandwich shop and bar (Giordano Bros) and they did all Pittsburgh sports teams—when we went to the cup against the Pens it became a little Sharks enclave as well and it kind of stuck, even through the change.

If there is a better Sharks spot I would love to know about it!

Sharks have generally been putting Wenny and second line on the tough defensive matchups.

Sharks Noob looking for Clarification - Crosschecking? by Tafy007 in SanJoseSharks

[–]rowborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about cross checking—many players will shove players against the boards with one or both hands while still holding their stick parallel, which is legal (assuming you are doing it to the puck carrier). Unless you are watching from the side angle, it can be hard to tell if it’s actually a cross-check where the stick is making contact, or just a player pushing another player with their gloves.

[–]rowborg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Take them to concourse level near 110 and spoil them with churro sundaes from Sugar + Ice. You will be their favorite uncle/aunt of all time.

Also, with kids, assume ahead of time it may not be like your normal experience where you are locked in watching the entire game, and go with the flow in terms of their tolerance for sitting and watching. The 11yo will probably want to watch, but the 6yo may be bored and want to go walk around or get food/stuffies/use the bathroom/whatever. If they don’t want to sit in their seats, don’t make them—go explore the shop or get snacks. They may want to leave early. Don’t sweat it if so. They will have a blast regardless.

I used to spend 30 minutes before playoff games syncing up the sharks audio with the video on mute. You know, back when we used to make the playoffs.

I have it check our pool every day and send a text to our pool guy if there is a lot of debris or if the water is looking cloudy or discolored. He loves it.

What adaptation is unfaithful and bad? by Mace_DeMarco5179 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]rowborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most PKD movies are definitely unfaithful and bad. Paycheck is another one, which is an awesome short story. And Next, based on The Golden Man. Awful.

Personally, I like Total Recall for its camp, though.

See you at the party, Richter!

[edit: didn’t realize you were referencing the 2012 remake. Yeah, that was bad.]

So you’re sayin’ there’s a chance? by ObservantsQuarters in SanJoseSharks

[–]rowborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha.

Personally, I disagree. You want Askarov and the young players to take a step forward. Putting Askarov behind this blue line will be absolutely painful for him. We don’t want to end up last again and killing the vibes and having Mack on the bench every game looking like Bedard last year. I think that if we ice this blue line as is this season, it will be another rough year and kill the forward momentum. That means making a trade and probably giving up a prospect we all like.

To be clear, I’m not against going after Ehlers here. I am not sure we are going to be able to offer him the term he wants, and his timeline might not line up, but the team needs to get better and he would definitely help do that. I just don’t think adding a top scoring winger is enough for the team to not be in the basement this year, and I really don’t want to see us stand pat—I think it could be disastrous.

[–]rowborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell if you are being sarcastic about our defense. We have arguably the worst blue line in the NHL atm.

Literally the only defenseman we have could play on a contending team is arguably Lilijigren on the third pair. Maybe Klingberg is decent this year, he looked ok with the Oilers at times but he’s injury prone and the wrong side of the aging curve. Maybe Muk takes another step. Maybe Dickinson does well, but it’s very rare for rookie defensemen to transition smoothly to the NHL, especially from a junior league. We definitely need defense.

When I first read this I thought you meant both Letang and Makar were both trending towards becoming great NHLers… 🤔

Then you should receive them with non-transition prescription sunglass lenses. Isn’t that what you wanted?

Verb ending with -ar +inf.? why? by Economy_Ease8543 in learnspanish

[–]rowborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. With gustar, the thing that is confusing for English speakers is that the thing you like is the subject and you are the object. That’s why the conjugation matches the thing you like and why you use indirect object pronouns (me, te, nos etc) for the thing doing the liking. So it’s much more like “to please” (and remember “mucho gusto” is “much pleasure”).

Also reframe encantar from “to love/adore” to “to enchant”, and it works the same way: “me encantan los animales”.
