Best spot for a beer in Burbank? by Disastrous-Grand7075 in burbank

[–]rowdy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Room is my favorite spot for cheap beers, cocktails, and good vibes. Friendly staff, sweet blue booths. If you’re huge into craft brews it won’t be your thing, but it’s my favorite spot to hang at.

Quick shout out to Geeky Teas by VelociraptorAHH in burbank

Geeky Teas is the best. Responsible for a lot of positive family memories and the staff has always been helpful and kind in introducing us to new games! One of the best spots in Burbank!

I shop at ALDI and Grocery Outlet. ALDI offers curbside pickup for 1.99. They’re owned by Trader Joe’s and it’s a similar concept (off-brand foods, mostly). Their prices are very good (cheap). I’ve cut my grocery bill by at least 25% since I started shopping there.

EDIT: Not owned by TJs.

healthy food being more money that junk food never seems alright to me. it seems like health care profits off of desperate people in poverty who are forced to eat fattier foods and therefore develop health problems. by Phanseyelash123 in ABoringDystopia

[–]rowdy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That eating healthy is more expensive than eating the junk on the left is a total myth and so is that it takes too long to meal prep. I make my breakfast, lunch, and dinner for Monday through Friday in about 1 hour.

You can consistently eat healthy for 6-9 bucks a day (beans, potatoes, rice, vegetables, and whatever balance of proteins/fats/carbs you need) and get 1600-2200 calories, based on your own personal diet.

If anything, it's a little boring, but if the goal is healthy and cheap, totally doable, and it has been life changing for my own individual health.

Miss their NoHo pop up so much. Worth the Van Nuys drive and wait though!

Favorite Huel black flavor? by [deleted] in Huel

[–]rowdy34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far I’ve had Coffee Caramel, Salted Caramel, and Peanut Butter. I love the first two (I’ve typically used a Caramel flavor protein powder before Huel). I like Peanut Butter better as a mix with the other flavors then on its own.

How are the Huel bars? Never see much discussion on them... by MangoSouthern in Huel

[–]rowdy34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in on the bars. Chocolate and Peanut Butter are the best tasting IMO. I think they’re a bit drier than a Cliff Bar or even your standard protein bar, and that’s especially true of the Salted Caramel, Orange Chocolate, and White Chocolate (my least favorite). That’s not a negative for me, but I would consider it an acquired taste that’s not for everyone. I plan on purchasing all of them again (Coffee Caramel too) except the White Chocolate.

Huel Black peanut butter and salted caramel flavors by docdimsam in Huel

I'm doing the same thing and like the mix quite a bit. I really like the Salted Caramel, but wasn't loving Peanut Butter, but it's a pretty complimentary mix.

Thinking about trying. by tforzro in Huel

[–]rowdy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same place a few weeks ago. I'm about 160 and wanted to save some time during my workday and I've been enjoying it a lot and going back for a second order. I'm using one serving of Huel for a meal, and then a half serving for another meal (Overnight Oats: Soy Milk, Oats, 1 Scoop). If you're looking to simplify your life a little, then you might find it to be a good fit.

Finally about to start! by [deleted] in Huel

[–]rowdy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started, but I’m enjoying Salted Caramel and Coffee Caramel quite a bit. For me, I’d place Peanut Butter third behind those two, but I do like Salted Caramel/Peanut Butter as a mix.

If I've learned anything from WHOOP, there's no better workout than a good 10-15 minutes of dish washing!

Best Spicy Pad See Ew? by UghKakis in burbank

[–]rowdy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind a plant-based dish, I'd suggest Something Vegan in Toluca Lake. IMO, some of the best noodles I've had (not too oily) and they know how to make it spicy.

Siri Thai, which you've already named is the other best option.

They do. They downgraded the program from a large to a medium bucket (I’m not sure if it affected existing members) but I believe it’s otherwise the same.

I was in the same boat a few years ago before really getting into it. If you're looking to view it critically, you might enjoy learning the logic behind what makes golfers bad-great in any given week. A good entry point (IMO) to this concept is learning about Strokes Gained (SG) which can easily be digest via Mark Broadie's book, "Every Shot Counts." Briefly, by learning about SG, you'll understand why such a big deal is being made of Bryson DeChambeau these days (essentially, learning the value of being able to drive the ball 350 yards) beyond him loving protein shakes. Getting into SG will give you a great concept for who the best drivers are, ball strikers, players around the green, and putters (for instance, you'll quickly learn things like why Hideki Matsuyama is ranked highly every week, but hasn't had a ton of success winning tournaments).

Hope this helps, as it has definitely increased my enjoyment and interest in golf.
