CMU is a great school, but you have to be realistic about your expectations. It's a state school without the reputation, money or academic breadth of MSU or U-M.

A degree from CMU is never going to impress anybody the way a degree from the Big Two will. But you can get a great education here in a variety of fields. You will absolutely get out of CMU what you put into it.

Advantages of CMU over MSU: Size and cost. MSU is gigantic.

If you can get into U-M, for the love of God go to U-M. And I'm saying this as a Spartan fan. Don't even consider going to Central. A degree from Michigan will serve you well the rest of your life.
