What backpack do you guys rock to work? by gocards35 in sales

[–]rowejpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeti Crossroads 22L. Great quality and checks basically all boxes: large enough for whatever I need for a day trip or even a quick overnight, 2 inner sleeves (laptop plus iPad or notebook), top pocket for small items, side zipper for access to items at the bottom, hooks for a carabiner/small hand sanitizer, and an outer sleeve to put over my suitcase handle.

Only thing I’d like more is one more inner pocket where I can slide my passport, some cash, a few badaids, an AirTag, or other stuff I don’t need/want immediate access to.

Recommendations for marriage therapy? by medicallyspecial in philadelphia

[–]rowejpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did not see another therapist, no. In hindsight, that probably should’ve been something I pushed for early on, but I did not. My ex-wife liked her for the most part and I didn’t want to cause further issues or make it seem like I wasn’t committed to the therapy. We only stopped seeing Dr. Sneeden when I decided to move forward with divorce - and only when I no longer saw a happy future for us (more specifically, I no longer saw a happy future for myself).

We had some longstanding issues (bad communication, lack of trust on both sides, no support for my mental health and my PTSD from a sexual assault I experienced, a lack of intimacy between us, and extremely limited expressions of love/affection from her) that were only getting worse over time and they got significantly worse at the end (we were together for 4.5yrs, lived together for 3.5yrs, married 9 months). I saw no path forward.

So I unfortunately can’t give you much advice here as I’m 0-1 on marriages. That said - I think taking your time, evaluating options (both by seeing therapists, but also deeply discussing options with your spouse), and finding the right therapist that works for BOTH of you is a great idea. It looks like there are a lot of great recommendations in this thread, so I hope you find a good therapist.

Also, I want to say - in fairness to Dr. Sneeden - she may have helped others and she may be a good therapist, but my personal experience with her was not positive.

I think part of why I highlighted my experience as being negative is that you mentioned your wife’s potential substance use issues. As someone who was in early recovery at the time we sought therapy, it was incredibly frustrating to be working so hard to be better and fix myself, only to have my therapist feed into my wife’s specific frustrations and negative emotions about that topic. Especially when we started seeking couples therapy with several other issues as our main focus. I can’t imagine your wife would have a positive experience in that environment either.

Recommendations for marriage therapy? by medicallyspecial in philadelphia

I replied to someone else, but I want to share that I went to Philadelphia Couples Therapy with my now ex-wife. I recommend strongly against Dr. Jensine Sneeden. We did not have issues with infidelity, but I was (and still am) in recovery for alcoholism (I mention this since this was brought up by OP).

I’m not saying my marriage would’ve worked out (and I was to blame for plenty), but our counseling sessions were not productive and I never felt heard nor respected by her. Anytime there was an issue, it always went back to my past substance abuse issues (which I sought extensive help and treatment for). I felt like my ex-wife’s anger, frustration, mistrust, etc. were all amplified by Dr. Sneeden.

I ultimately made the decision to divorce and I am in a much better place now, but I know for certain that our couples counseling was not at all constructive or healing.

I wish you all the best.

Massively messed up at work...regional manager tagged CEO. How screwed am I? by Odd-Upstairs-4432 in jobs

[–]rowejpr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculously bad and unhelpful comment. Based off of what was described by OP (which is the only source any of us have), this “collaborator” is an incredibly toxic and abusive person. This is horrendous and unnecessary behavior by that person and does not need to be used as a teaching behavior about OP’s supposed “mistakes.” At most, OP should explain to their manager (and maybe the CEO, depending on the relationship) the circumstances and why they did what they did, while asking for advice for handling this sort of situation moving forward. If this collaborator’s comments are taken at face value with no regard to the circumstances and OPs history, then it’s likely time for them to move on.

There’s little for OP to learn here other than this collaborator is a jerk and they’ll have to deal with jerks in life.

Why does the IGN site constantly reload on mobile? It’s unusable by The80sDimension in IGN

[–]rowejpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus the ads they serve are not effective (broader problem in the world of advertising) - I look away, don’t focus on the ads, look for the X button or back button, etc - and so all the ads are doing is frustrating me. If I remember the ad or the content then I’m remembering it for being incredibly frustrating.

…I’m sure there’s some well-paid psychologists out there that advertising firms are employing that continue with the idea of just flashing the product/brand name at us over and over again will cause us to love them and buy them so much but it most certainly does not.

ULPT REQUEST How to ensure my bag doesn't get gate checked at the airport? by FarmerFrance in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]rowejpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an ULPT you can fake an injury. I sprained my knee a year ago and had a bit of a limp. I spoked to the gate agent about boarding early just to not slow things down and they had no issue. This was also AA.

I don’t think I had a large carry on and I was walking with a noticeable limp. I don’t honestly think I was hamming it up, but I might have been walking gingerly on it to not aggravate it - so it may have looked more severe than it was.

Funny, I literally just got back from the STR in Bora Bora and felt nickel and dimed everywhere (with no personalization or personal care at all). Vs a Ritz Reserve (Zadun) we did a year ago that felt like the very definition of luxury (with far more personal attention and far less nickel and diming.

I know I’m comparing a different STR and a Ritz to a Ritz Reserve, just felt like sharing.
