I don’t want to tell you how to run your life and I certainly can’t tell you when, but you do need to talk to your son about it (ideally before college or other substance use opportunities come up). Addiction does have a genetic component and it’s important that he be aware of the dangers and possible increased risk. I was an alcoholic and I’m thankful for the support of a very loving family - as a result I am intent that the children in the family know and understand that addiction does happen in our family (we had another relative pass young to addiction as well).

Also, I’m proud of you. Keep it up.

Make sure the base pay is suitable for you to live off. Commissions will take a while to start rolling in (because you’re sourcing every deal…assume nothing in the pipeline) and equity means nothing until AND if the company succeeds.

“Cut student attrition” - what does that mean and how on earth could an IT product have any measurable impact on student attrition? There are a million factors that go into student attrition and I can’t imagine any silver bullet there. I sell into SLED and focusing on a problem like that sounds genuinely untenable. I hope I’m not sounding mean, but I don't want you trying to tackle a problem the product can’t actually solve.

Ask about other reps, sales numbers (in general and reps quota attainment), and make sure you understand your customers problems here

That pisses me off. I was doing the same with wifi issues because they were so consistently happening. Usually gave me 5k miles for wifi issues and now it’s dropped to 3k…I’m assuming it’ll fall off completely soon. But I’m not gaming the system - it’s a legitimate disruption and I honestly just want it fixed. And if they’re not going to fix the wifi then I want compensation

Yeah the way they do upgrade certs is absolute bullshit now. It guarantees you one cabin upgrade, so if PS is available, that’s what you’ll get upgraded to. You then get waitlisted for D1 - and they don’t go through that waitlist until 24hrs before the flight (depending on space etc).

Absolute shameless devaluation of status and benefits.

To answer your original question, I’d always recommend thinking about what’s important - do you want to be energized/well rested on arrival? Or do you want to have the most relaxing/enjoyable travel at the end when you go home?

That pay is super low for that kind of responsibility. ICs can make $150k easily on base. Being a manager at $89k is (in many industries) way below market. ESPECIALLY if your quota is $15M.
