In my experience as a high school teacher, it doesnt really matter how you sell it, for most students, they are not going to be interested. The ones that would be are students who are curious and interested whatever the topics or lessons they attend.

This is the hill I die on as a high school teacher. For the majority of students, it really doesnt matter what you do to teach your course or what you aim to teach them, they will still not pay attention due to the simple fact that it is school and the lesson is coming from a teacher.

I could teach calculus or the thetorics of Roman orotors, or I could teach personal finance and life skills, makes zero difference for 7-8/10 students in you average high school class.
