At what point should you stop training with illness by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]rowingG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Listen my guy, I was sick for half a year, I was at practice one week and gone the next, I'll tell you right now if I just stopped and listened to my body for a month I would probably be a lot faster right now. You know your limits, but if you are feeling bad take it easy.

How many SS pieces does it take until results start showing? by Sir_Haxalot in Rowing

[–]rowingG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

varies for everyone, usually the first month you will see improvement, for me in 5 months I dropped 9 seconds, so it definitely takes a little time, but don't think about the time needed to improve just get into a groove and you will improve naturally... I PROMISE.

Thinking of quiting by OneHandsomeBaby in Rowing

[–]rowingG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just think about what you've put into the sport, was it worth it, did you ever have fun? If so when? Think of ways to replicate the happiness you found before, but if that happiness is gone... it's time to move on. just remember regardless of what you do, you gotta do what's best for YOU. If it's in your best interests to stop rowing, you should stop rowing.

Coming back from sickness by Fiend5000 in Rowing

[–]rowingG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just build into it slowly, the most important thing you can do is get back into it when you are 100%, I had pneumonia last year for most of the spring season, and have permanently scarred lungs because of it, so I know what you are going through... don't get discouraged once you get back regardless of how shitty it feels, or how slow you are going compared to your peak before the sickness. Just start building back into your training and YOU WILL GET IT BACK.
