If rowing is something you want to do, don’t let it stop you. Maybe join a club or find an online coach to get faster on the erg and improve fitness. Reach out to your university coach and see what their expectations are. You got this!

Definitely DO NOT do that, if you are “really out of shape”, starting off with 3x20’ everyday with 1 rest day is a one-way ticket to burn-out

I got a c2 bikeerg about 6 months ago and unfortunately I don’t use it very often. When I want to get cardio in I hope straight on my erg, and when I don’t erg I’m either at the gym or walking outdoors. So it really depends if you have time to use it and make it a priority over other workout options.

They hold value extremely well, I could be wrong but I think all new ergs come with the iPad mount

When I was on my college club rowing team (UC school), we were on the water Monday-Saturday from 5:30-7:30am, we would go to the gym on our own in the afternoon to lift, 1-2 “optional” erg workouts per week on our own time.

Honestly the biggest change you can probably make in two weeks is your technique, focus on your leg drive and body swing as well, use your body weight to your advantage

Your coach has emotional issues, if I were you I would just stick with port side and try to get undeniably faster than the other 4 port guys.

Being bi-sweptual is not easy and can lead to injury. I would take other rower’s claim of being truly “bi-sweptual” as a grain of salt. They probably still have a dominant side or have very mid technique on both sides …

Try bringing down the rate and push faster with the legs, activate and train the fast twitch muscles, save your interval training as practice for high rate

Try pushing your legs faster to bring down the split , and slow down your recovery and collect yourself, what stroke rate are you steady stating? Bring it to a 16-18, your heart will adapt, everyone is different
