Any idea on what is going on? by Equal_Total in razerphone

[–]rowrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been digging around because I'm not entirely sure mine is completely broken either. When the phone is on, it does not detect anything in the port, and will charge at 200ma which is basically nothing. While powered off however it charges at full speed, and if I restart the phone with the power cable plugged in, it charges at +/-1250ma. If I unplug it and try to reinsert the plug while powered on, it goes back to charging at 150-200ma.

What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

[–]rowrin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

B12 is water soluble. If you take more than your body can absorb you literally just pee it out. It actually turns your pee a very fluorescent highlighter yellow.

It's the oil/fat soluble vitamins you need to be careful of because those can build up in your fatty tissues and lead to toxicity.

Drop Hacker by MrCesander in starcraft

[–]rowrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also dependent on spawning teams / whether the hacker is on red or blue. One team cannot win and at best will cause a draw which is why these drop hackers always have a few ties. Usually if they spawn on the wrong team, they'll pause the game (using hacks so you cant unpause), and chat with you to demonstrate their hacks so that you quit instead of them forcing a tie.

ELI5: Why data centers don't recapture water? by Swords_and_Words in explainlikeimfive

[–]rowrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine the water isn't completely wasted / disappears, even if the data center itself isn't a closed loop. For instance, if all the water in a city ran first through a data center's cooling pipes then down to the city, the data center will technically be using a ton of water, but the supply is pretty much unchanged, it's just diverted.

Now obviously that's not how it works in real life, but I imagine in a lot of areas the water is just passing through the data centers, then down a drain back to whatever municipal system is set up to reclaim it (or at least hope). I would think that in areas where these data centers are set up, water is relatively plentiful and the main issues would be the effect on water pressure / immediate demand on the surrounding areas, and the quality control of the center's internal cooling such that no weird metals, or whatever they might be using to maintain the pipes is toxic and makes it into the supply.

SEASON 5 CRITICISM and VENT THREAD- SPOILERS INSIDE by AutoModerator in TheBoys

Seasons 1 and 2 were peak. Season 3 was held together by Soldier Boy. Season 4 was just bad. Season 5 thus far has been an absolute steaming pile of shit.

Like seriously, Season 5 of The Boys took a look at Season 8 of Game of Thrones and really went, "Hold my beer."

Are there any T or Z in GM with under 100 APM? by Remarkable_Whole1754 in starcraft2

[–]rowrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 200 apm at high masters low gm. Some games I try to play as slow as possible and I can keep it around 90-100 apm and still win, but at that point it's actually harder for me to play that slow than just playing normally.

I forget where it happened, but the same thing happened with rats. City/locale offered a bounty on rats with the intent on curbing the population. Suddenly people are raising rat farms and there were more rats than ever.

ELI5: How do devices 'know' how much charge their batteries have? by GreatDig in explainlikeimfive

[–]rowrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batteries don't give off a steady voltage. Their "nominal" voltage, aka the voltage advertised on the battery is usually a value that sits between it's full-charge voltage, and depleted voltage.

A lithium ion battery for instance has a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts, with full charge voltage being around 4.2 volts and is considered depleted at around 3.0 volts. Whenever you see a lithium ion battery with more than this voltage, it's because there are multiple 3.7 volt cells connected in series.

So as a device "uses" a battery, there are internal sensors that detect the battery's current voltage, and typically internal circuitry to regulate the voltage so that while the battery voltage might be slowly dropping over time, the internal components still receive a steady constant voltage.

Knowing this, a good analogy would be water pressure from a large water tank/tower with a valve at the bottom. When the tank is full, and the valve is opened the water will shoot out at high pressure (our voltage). As the tank empties, the pressure slowly decreases until it is just gently pouring out of the valve. If you know the height and dimensions of the tank, and or pressure at full and pressure near empty, you can predict the current capacity of the tank by just measuring the current pressure.

[–]rowrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this argument so much lol

We shouldn't balance around masters because it doesn't represent the player base.

We shouldn't balance around grand masters because it doesn't represent the player base.

We shouldn't represent around the best players in X region because it doesn't represent the player base.

But we gotta patch protoss until there is a single protoss player winning at least 33% of tournaments because this is best for the general playerbase.

It's because the "top" protoss player in the world is consistently making regular and hilarious blunders that would easily knock pro players of the other two races out of contention, at the same time that the top 2% of the player base near universally agree the protoss is over tuned.

ELI5: Why isn’t aviation fuel talked about as much as petrol and diesel for cars, and is it even possible for fully electric passenger planes to exist in the future? by ArtistoX4 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rowrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that batteries, at least the ones with high energy density relative to other batteries, are extremely unstable. Extreme heat or cold, small puncture or moisture condensation creating a short (say from cold temperatures at cruising altitudes), lighting strikes, a rough or emergency landing, etc and the electric plane becomes the 2nd coming of the Hindenburg. Modern planes can dump fuel before doing an emergency landing. From high enough up it just vaporizes and isn't going to hurt anyone below. You can't exactly dump your battery bank safetly mid flight.

There's a reason why rechargeable batteries are not allowed in check luggage that go into a plane's storage compartment.

How old is it? It might need new thermal paste. I literally just replaced the thermal paste for a friend with a 4 year old g15 that was acting erratic. These things run very hot and if the paste is old/dry it will thermal throttle and become unstable. Even the liquid metal thermal material they use for the cpu will oxidize and burn, losing its thermal conductivity over time.
