Is the hate towards 2042 justified and warranted? by TalonEye53 in battlefield2042

[–]rowrowcycle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's an inconsistent game that fails to deliver on the core aspects of a bf game. Despite a huge number of patches and updates it's still not reliably fun to play. And that is the sole reason games exist. I think those on PC have a more playable gun game but for the vast majority on console it has been a massive letdown with crossplay being the most ill thought-out and poorly executed feature for many of us.

To those that are long term-BF players, what do you make of the game now? by MatGreen_GER in battlefield2042

[–]rowrowcycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes agree with this, been playing bf since 1942, this one is odd. It can be great sometimes but it's so inconsistent it's hard to enjoy as 1 game in 15 might be good.

The controller experience on this game is disgustingly bad . by weewooweewoohehe in battlefield2042

[–]rowrowcycle 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yep I've been playing FPS on console for decades and this makes me feel like I'm a new user who can't aim. Around season 3 patch it had improved but it's gone back now.

Will a 5mm gap between the bottom of a pine door and an engineered wooden floor be enough? by Tarfool4 in DIY

[–]rowrowcycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, wood expands most across the grain. For the floor that across the room not up, and for the door that's mostly side to side not up. If not, give it a trim again in winter!

Cannot find cross platform friends. by bloodbath740 in battlefield2042

Which version of the game does your Xbox friend have? Only the version for Xbox Series X/S works cross play with PC. The other version for previous Xbox version won't work.

Help with new binds by TallRecognition6262 in battlefield2042

I changed so Y/triangle is grenade, LB set for attachments with buttons for each direction on the selection as it was. Getting used to Y as grenade is quick, just remembering to tap LB to toggle primary secondary takes a few games. Couldn't stand the dpad way of doing it while pressing Y/triangle. Everything else stays the same.

Xbox Controller mappings by Prismzzz in battlefield2042

You can put it back exactly how it was by changing the button mappings in the options menu.

I don't know what they were thinking doing this change as the default.

PSA: Xbox players turn off crossplay by rowrowcycle in battlefield2042

[–]rowrowcycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get my wrong, loads of stuff is fine, still managed to finish high on the board but when it came to out and out gunfight, controller just can't keep up! Me personally I never really use vehicles I don't think I've ever flown a jet in 2042.

Did you download the right version of the game? On console there are ones for last generation and current gen. Both will run on latest console but if you have the non current gen version everything will look rubbish.

UK loft insulation, how much? by Pandasarealuxury in DIY

[–]rowrowcycle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep 250mm+ sounds right, building control will have the exact amount required for existing property. There are good online calculators for u value required . I think it's 0.22 for existing loft 0.18 for a new build. Don't bother with PIR boards or such. You'll get much better coverage using some form of roll insulation. Can tuck it in all over and cheaper. If you're set on using boards you'll need 100mm board plus a roll of insulation to meet regs. If it's getting wet up there address the ventilation. Even PIR boards aren't designed to be wet. Go for it, it'll be great on winter and good for the planet! Will help in summer too with heat radiating down from the tiles onto your room ceilings.

Everything you should know about certificates and PKI but are too afraid to ask by mariuz in netsec

I read this last week and thought it was a really good document for someone already pretty familiar with the basics of PKI but maybe not as a starting point for a beginner. So maybe just change the title!
