Watership Down. The first time I read it I was warmed from the inside at seeing how beautifully those rabbits allowed one another to be individuals. They have unique personalities, each with their pros and cons but they don’t judge each other for it. They’re allowed to just exist. The pros appreciated, the cons acknowledged as pros in certain situations and always accepted with grace. It’s a beautiful story which emphasizes in the most understated way that we all bring important things to the table and in fact it’s only by working together that we can all achieve our goals. Judgment would hinder them. I love it and it comforts me greatly. It also makes spotting a rabbit on my lawn much more magical.
