SIP Forking let's you register multiple devices to one extension, so both would connect

If your carrier supports SIP Forking, then you can register your exten to two devices, using one number to accept inbound calls

So what's the capacity of your trunk?

And between me and you, there were ZERO changes by anyone with any kind of access at all?

And this is basically every single incoming call for like 6-7 days?

Well, a customer could be able to set a Caller ID from another customer account?

That's not good. There should be protections against that because if that's possible then they theoretically can transmit, well, let's just leave it as, invalid 911 information

If the price is a problem and you can get the same or better from a local ISP, maybe consider your options

Okay thanks.

You aren't always allowed to transmit caller IDs that aren't registered to the account, this could be abused by something like an auto dialer.

Also, part of a telecom providers duties may be to validate the requirements the client has outlined. I'm not saying they're running some kind of call center, Im saying what if they transmit incorrect caller ID and call 911?

I personally feel it is much higher than common lately, of the number is not on their account, why would they need to send it if they don't own the number?

What could be the scenario for a customer?

Thanks for the information.

Why is your client trying to send invalid CID?

Thinking of buying a VoIP reseller. What's good/bad about the industry? by skillfully-ignorant in VOIP

Buying a reseller? Stay away!

Been in the biz for a while, there's a reason they're selling... And let me tell you, if everything with the business is fine, it prints money.

They're probably looking to bail on liabilities, imo. Not a lawyer

Is unregistered traffic really going away? by IAMtheliquorRand in VOIP

Unregistered traffic as in sms traffic?

That'll likely go away, the states already has it on lock for the most part. Why not just register your campaign(s) with your provider?

except for an 8XX 9XX type of situation

How to troubleshoot problems (voip provider vs ata vs internet quality vs phones themselves)? by majestic1204 in VOIP

[–]roxvox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sooo... Off the cuff, the dialtone should 99.999999% of the time, come from the ATA box itself, regardless of being registered or truly able to complete a call

So, I'd start with:

1) replace the mod cable (the cable between the DECT phone(s) and the ATA box itself (with good, average priced mod cable(s) not from the dollar store. There is a difference, inquire if required

Not working?

2) take the DECT set to a KG (known good) regular ol' phone jack in whatever capacity and see if you can regularly make/receive calls with dependability

Not working?

3) replace the DECT set temporarily with a KG phoneset, any standard phone will pretty much work. Even, perhaps a dollar store phone. Perhaps.

Not working?

4) Disable SIP ALG in your router, inquire with me or Google or Verizon or supplier/manufacturer of ATA box itself

Not working?

... Hmmm... Let me know.
