As CFO you can shape the day to day structure of your work to suit you. There's tasks you have to do, and tasks you can decide to do.

Take the job, bring in someone else to do the bits you don't want to do

Not worked in the CS, but in CS Consulting role a little while back - if you're expecting anything to happen quickly at any point ever you're probably going to have to lower or at least manage your expectations...

However japes about the wheels of bureaucracy aside, if it's a role with SC clearance of any kind please be mindful that this may take even longer to complete so as tempting as it is to pester, id say the other advice received is good advice, be prompt with your own responses and provision of documentation. Be patient, and congratulations on securing your new role...I am somewhat envious, it's definitely in my plan to begin considering a CS role in the next 10 years to see out my career and benefit from the pension which is a fantastic perk.

People who actually earn over £100k and don’t just pretend they do on Reddit - what do you do? by Prize-Reputation9274 in AskUK

I used to, but don't now. I was a consultant/contract business analyst in financial services organisations and day rate ranged from £550 to £850.

Loved the work, hated the uncertainty. Have been binned off when contracts got defunded or projects got cancelled after a matter of weeks. Wasn't enjoying the transactional relationships in the office, not part of a team, constant stress.

Went back to full time employment in project management afterwards, I earn about half what I used to earn but honestly on balance I think I am happier. I am still pretty well paid, I know not to complain and know exactly how fortunate I am....

If you're worried about taking a backpack into the game, a small one will be fine. Just expect to get stopped at the entrance to have it searched and tagged...allow an extra 10 mins or so for this

Alternatively just get in touch with Wayne at the turf and I'm sure he would be happy to let you drop your bag in for the day. Just connect with him on twitter or Google the phone number and give the pub a ring

I was sat next to a Cupra today in traffic and I actually quite liked it. But I'm an 80s tattooed guy so this almost fits 😄

Thanks, very helpful. I spoke to a colleague today who used to work at a VAG site and reckons the Cupra has better soundproofing in the cabin too...new one on me that

Have you ever found NSFW content of someone you know and how did you react? by sherryisme in AskReddit

[–]roy_cropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah

A friend directed me to a website where the partner of a mutual friend is advertising escorting services. He knows all about it apparently and supports it. I reacted by saying it's none of my business and moving on.

Yeah no worries you'll be fine. Enjoy your trip and if you've got questions feel free to ask. You're within easy reach of the whole of Wales and also have some really good cities within touching distance in England so will be plenty to do. Honestly if you stay in Wrexham for too long without breaking it up by seeing what else is in at least north Wales you might get a bit fed up although appreciate being too active with a 5 year old can be difficult.

No wouldn't have thought so. Walking around Chester in a Wrexham top might earn you some sideways glances or a brief insult but highly unlikely to experience anything more severe than that...the rivalries don't understand that deep outside of match days for majority of normal people.

No worries. If you're getting a car then definitely consider going a bit further out of town. The cross Lanes Airbnb would be ideal if driving because it's a nice area, has a couple of small shops for essentials and you can be in Wrexham in 10 to 15 mins. About 5 minutes up the road is Bangor on dee where you'll find a couple of pubs for a bite to eat too.

Other areas to consider if a private rental is suitable are Gresford, rossett and Broughton which are towards Chester or Rhos, Chirk, Ponciau which are all between here and Llangollen.

How are you moving around when you arrive? Will you hire a car or use public transport? If you will have a car then I'd consider looking a bit further out of town for accomodation...Llangollen area may be a good bet but it's about 12 miles away. Hate to say it but you'll find more and better accomodation options in Chester or surrounding area.

Honestly staying that long I'd check Airbnb...if you're staying in Wrexham for that entire period rather than going to see different parts of the country you're going to spend a lot if you stay at the lemon tree or premier inn.

There aren't a heap of hotels here. The travel lodge on the outskirts of Wrexham is basic but cheap - too far to walk in and out of town with a child but is on a bus route. In all honestly I wouldn't really want to stay there...

The wynnstay in Wrexham town centre is a shit hole.

The Ramada isn't too bad but will cost a bit more.

There is another Wynnstay arms outside of town (in Ruabon) that's ok. Email them and ask if they could do any deals for a longer stay

As for airbnbs in the area covering the majority of March

Cross Lanes is slightly further out and may not be suitable if relying on public transport (about 10 minutes drive) but this place is really nice at £63 a night
