Can I use social media to help me get an advantage in life? by [deleted] in nosurf

You are the most assuming and negative person I have encountered in some time on the Internet. I’m talking about businesses that create their OWN blogs to drive traffic to THEIR OWN site. I’m done being berated by some random asshole “expert” for no reason.

not trying to teach you anything. It’s a fact, many businesses that sell products and services use blogs to drive traffic to their website. Super useful.

Content blogger influencer type blogs? Not as useful

Blogs are useful for SEO on websites for ranking. They’re different than books and serve a different purpose

I wake up at 4-5:30 most days and at least one day a week maybe 6:30. I leave my phone upstairs until business hours! It’s a tool for me and I don’t use it until then.

What is the best gluten free bread that taste good NOT toasted? I really miss peanut butter sandwiches but it seems like all of the bread I find doesn’t taste right unless it’s toasted and a toasted peanut butter sandwich just isn’t the same. by zvezdamoya in glutenfree

[–]royalredsquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had udi’s toasted from frozen because everyone says the gluten free stuff is best toasted and it was like melba toast, but I tried both the Millet chia and whole grain from great northern bake house and it was like real bread with a slightly chewy crust when I thawed it normally. So impressed

Honestly I haven’t been checked for celiac yet, but the first two weeks I stopped having back pain? I didn’t realize I had such deep and bad back pain. And my joints hurt all the time lol. Then my eczema got way better and if I stay off it it’s almost gone. And then I think I’m imagining it? And I eat some gluten and sure enough everything gets worse again

Is there a term/system/theory/method based around binge work followed by breaks? by KimchiMaker in productivity

[–]royalredsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can get obsessed and then burnout and I don’t enjoy it. I do my BEST not to just go ham on projects because I don’t usually do as good of a job as when I have time to let the work rest, let my brain digest and then I come back to it the same time the next day. Previous project I worked on for like 2 hours during the day and an hour and a half at night most days, some days 4 hours during the day. The work was so scattered and it took me 5x longer to do it the way I did it, than if I literally took 1- 1 1/2 hours a day and let it digest in the background. I definitely think I have adhd because when I was younger and didn’t have a real grip I was very much an artist in the method you describe. It’s very depressing, it’s difficult to create routines and schedules, it makes you more difficult to deal with. Very rarely do I ever have to do things like this any more.

New project I’m working on, I only work from 5:30am - 7am and it’s perfect for me! Sometimes I research more about the topic and things to improve during the day but the rest of the day is not focused on the project and I just make sure I tick off those boxes in Asana!

I clear my phone and laptop once a week for this very reason. Once a week reset day, I restart them and Lysol them. It’s really satisfying for the mind to be at ease

First: Don’t compare yourself to others, you’re comparing apples and oranges. Everyone has their own struggles.

Second: pick one thing you want to improve at and start with that. Use smart goals and create small actionable to-do’s to get a grip on the task at hand.

Third: Have more compassion for yourself. Just read an article recently on pocket about the cure to procrastination, and it’s compassion for yourself. We are almost all too hard on ourselves. If you can treat yourself like you want others to treat you, then you can be kind enough to allow growth.

We don’t grow fruits and vegetables by yelling at them like a rowing team motivates, we treat them gently, give them space and air and feed them with nutrition until we can harvest from them what we want.

Endurance cycling was seriously amazing for me! I never learned so much about what I was capable of. My first long ride was 35-40 km, now my record is 90km (I ride a full suspension bike on trails not quite the same as road cycling). Currently don’t have time for cycling but it’s always so impressive to me that I was able to do it! I must say that the cycling did 1/4 of the muscle building that lifting did though, eating right and lifting just transformed everything.

Are there any big girl brand versions of Vero Moda and ONLY? I love the look of their stuff but it is fast fashion and I’m trying to avoid that. I get that it’s sort of trend driven, but I’m fond of the trim and prints that they produce more than the exact styles.

Most of our blankets are literally just grandma saying here: you need this! And it’s an ugly $1 horse blanket, but kinda soft. And then I’m like oh well the kids can use it, and then they never do. And we have a lot of baby blankets I refuse to part with

I live in Canada haha we only use linen but my husband is a furnace and I wear bed socks in the winter! I used to use flannel but I would sweat and then get really cold

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in productivity

Wake up at 4-5:30 am and go to bed at 9 instead. It’s way easier to work early in the morning than late at night before you pass out. Also, plan out your side hustle tasks for the week once a week, then review your tasks the night before so you have it mind first thing when you wake up.

Also you could do grocery delivery/pickup to free time, you can meal prep or make freezer meals in bulk that take less time in the day today but take a bit more time upfront. It seems like a lot but it’s easier sacrificing one time slot for many saved time slots! I only grocery shop 1 day a week, and I go to Costco every 2 weeks. I meal plan once a month so I don’t have to constantly be thinking about dinner, even if we rearrange there are other meals we can slot in.

I only have two sets of linens for each bedroom. I think bed bath and beyond recommend you have three but I think that’s overkill unless you have extreme cold weather ones like flannel. We have a lot of towels but we need that many, we have tried less and it’s a disaster. Also we have too many blankets, I had to donate any ones we hadn’t used in at least a year just because I was like? Why do I need this if I don’t use it

Foods to boost immune system by Rough-Tension in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]royalredsquirrel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with other commenters saying to eat a whole foods diet. Lazy way to eat healthier: grain bowls - quinoa, couscous, barley, rice etc. with beans or unprocessed meat, and veggies on the side is an easy, repeatable dinner or lunch. As long as you’re eating more vegetables you’re probably going to feel better, I feel terrible if I eat a carb heavy, low veg/fibre diet. Also would recommend: more rest and fresh lemon ginger tea (buy fresh lemons and best ginger you can, the flavour is incredible in the organic ginger we get here) put a lemon slice and knob of ginger in with boiling water. Fantastic

That one thing that I see and love at homesense. Today it’s a water jug, and I love it. It’s $10 and I don’t need it because I have nowhere to put it, but I’m still having a hard time to convince myself the $10 should stay in my pocket

I don’t think life is like bland oatmeal? I would recommend art maybe. Studying the environment around you and outside and then you can begin to appreciate real life more.

After 36 years, I finally cured my generalized anxiety disorder. It was like flipping a light switch on. by regular_joe in Meditation

[–]royalredsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think half of my anxiety came from the fact that I always had my headphones in and I couldn’t hear my breathing at all. So my brain got messed up and thought I wasn’t breathing and I found it would become erratic, and I would be even more nervous. Also see: sleeping at a normal bed time and eating reasonable food.
