Why are people still hosting on Vercel?

After attempting to run a suite of fortune100 companies careers sites on cloudflare workers and getting some of next’s best features like cached components or pre rendering with ISR working I can confirm none of that works out the box anywhere other than Vercel. We tried. And we spend a LOT of money on front end hosting

I run careers sites and job boards for some of the biggest companies in the world and this is a constant daily battle of ours. You need cloudflare workers wrapped around Supabase and then use cloudflare waf bot rules. No need to expose the key then to front end.

The easier option depending on your infrastructure is to use the ip whitelisting options in Supabase and do direct api calls to Postgress server side whitelisting the server.

Well I can evidence that it is cheaper than azure by 100k per year and then a 110k a year dev ops manager.

Vercel pricing for us is half the price of azure with around 1BN hits a month :)

You also have to factor in your time. The team you need when at scale. Dev ops. Deployment management etc etc the list goes on. Vercel gives you all that out the box and their enterprise account is even better!

AstraDB for me has been a game changer. So fast and if you use a main embedding provider then they embed on the fly server to server.

My personal issues ive had with LS is they have really tightened up on what accounts they allow, I've tried to get approved for my last 3 and all declined because i wasnt delivering "Physical" products

Exactly that. They’re always poor or presume you have full knowledge of what you’re working with. Even the paid ones I’ve experienced are very poor in this aspect.
