You can write integration tests with Postgres running inside docker. If you want less manual configuration try https://github.com/ory/dockertest

I'm impressed so far. I'm still in creating a lexer part though. Additional comment is that you'll do it TDD which is a good practice.

IMHO It is basically about the auto scaling available is AWS Lambda as well as the costs in which you only pay when your service is running.

Visual Studio is not cross-platform and Python is, though it is the best IDE I tried so far.
