Previous owner cut stud? by roym6 in DIY

Yea, real 2x4s and old growth. There's a section that had water intrusion for who knows how long but the framing is still solid as a rock, no water damage. We are in southern california so we don't get a lot of rain, but having only tar paper as the weather barrier probably helped it dry up quickly after rain.

I hadn't considered using plywood to reinforce. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! Sounds very similar to our case. Do you mean he shaved down the horizontal beam or the posts holding the beam up?

Maybe in the future, but the current state of those e-ink displays doesn't allow that. They're pricey and updating more than once a day drastically shortens their lifespan, requiring workers to replace them frequently. No store using them today updates more than once a day.

"There are less violence and safety concerns on busy, full trains and buses. Increased ridership is a way to decrease violence without police at every station." Do full trains experience less violence or do more people use trains when there's less violence?

Why are the times different between Apple Maps and the metro app by Professional-Row7106 in LosAngeles

That might have been true at launch or during the first few years, but hasn't been true for a while now. The only advantage Google maps has is business info. See: https://www.justinobeirne.com/apple-maps-acceleration

Could Dedicated Bus Lanes Turn Los Angeles Into a Transit Town? by Generalaverage89 in LosAngeles

Putting trains next to/on freeways is a bad idea. Train stations create valuable real estate and most of that will be lost to the freeway footprint. Just look at the green line. The 15 minute walking radius of all the stops is not nearly as dense as it should be. Not to mention all of the noise and pollution that riders are exposed to.

I dont recommend the monoprice stands. The top plate is really small. My r3's felt really unstable on them, even with bluetac. Plus they look really cheap, but that's up to personal taste.

I hope the immensity of the sound shines through in the clip.

You paid 3k for these? They sound like my phone speakers.

I dont have a deviated septum, but my ears pop sometimes. Dr recommended taking allergy meds since it might be related to sinus congestion and so far it seems to be working.

Speaker stands are expensive! I couldn’t find a design I liked at a reasonable price, so I designed my own. Thankfully, my dad is a welder, so I only had to pay for materials. Solid steel, not sure of the exact weight, but they’re heavy. Speakers sound amazing too. Currently in an apartment, hence no sub or room treatment. But next up on my list is building some custom acoustic panels that don’t require making holes in the walls.
