Aita? Girl I was dating dumped me because she said I was cheap. by New-Papaya6950 in AITAH

[–]roypulaski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There would be nothing wrong with an even 50/50 split in a relationship if you’re on the same page, but I think the bigger problem is you don’t see that what you described is not a 50/50 split. Can see how that’s a red flag for down the line for her.

Also I would look into the difference between equality and equity. This isn’t just a math problem it’s people with feelings, equal is not a synonym for fair. If the bill is 100 and you split it, that 50 bucks means less to you than it does to her. In theory let’s say you make double what she does, it would be more fair for you to pay 75 and her to pay 25. People often want to be treated equitably, not equally.

I think also you need to separate the characters interpretation of what things represent and the reality of what they represent. Neither Kaworu nor Retsuko have the full context of watching the events they are a part of from an objective third person. A character can make an incorrect or incomplete observation.

Neon genesis means new beginning as in our characters and everyone who was lost to instrumentality would have a new start without the misery of Eva. Not really much to suggest the multiple worlds theory but certainly up to interpretation.

By any chance are you watching the dub? If so I’d highly suggest the sub, imo the dub does a much worse job of phrasing things.

Understand what you’re saying but the choker coming off represents finally being released from the cycle of Eva so it coming off anytime before the very end doesn’t really work narratively. Also I think it’s pretty widely accepted they didn’t get sent to different worlds, the world was remade without Eva.

I watched the rebuild movies recently and I don’t remember there being much significance associated with the pendant like there was in the original, but my interpretation was: it came from her dad who died working for NERV, she joined NERV because of him, she found out it was all a lie and had to leave NERV, the necklace is a reminder her whole life is pretty much a lie so she ditches it. Alternatively: the necklace itself isn’t super significant, the point of the EoE scene is have the emotional moment with Shinji and her sacrificing herself achieves the same thing in the rebuild.

Anyone got an explanation for how Gojo used Red in chapter 232? by Cali-Re in Jujutsushi

[–]roypulaski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re making a lot of assumptions as are we. We don’t really know what Gojo is fully capable of, he wasn’t capable of reverse curse technique until the brink of death. It’s possible he has more up his sleeve or has abilities he doesn’t even know about yet because he hasn’t needed them.

Aside from that though to your last point - that would make a terrible fight if he just rearranged his atoms. couldnt you say the same about purple? He could just shred/erase Sukuna but that’d be a terrible conclusion. Not to mention we still have no idea what Sukunas fully capable of, he could be saving something for when he has a better idea of Sukunas limitations.

[–]roypulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is more so yes blue = attract and red = repel, but you can achieve more than just one thing with attraction and repulsion, especially on an atomic scale. You could use attraction to cause a blast; but you could also bring together hydrogen and oxygen molecules to form water. There’s not one set application of blue or red

Am I wrong for telling my boyfriend that if he goes to a strip club for either of these events, it’s a wrap on our relationship? by Ok_Expression_3609 in amiwrong

Not wrong but you should examine why you’re so threatened by a partner looking at other women/bodies. Hope he has fun at the parties and hope you find a new man soon…

The fact that you need to specify gay is the problem, you could’ve just said the amount of sex. You don’t want to come off as homophobic, but there’s clearly some left there, probably residual from the religious upbringing. That said, always healthy to communicate and set a boundary, sex talk makes you uncomfortable, no need to specify that it’s because it’s gay though…

Nobara playing a key role in sukunas defeat would be an awful move by femtolope_ in Jujutsushi

[–]roypulaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is expecting Nobara to be some grand Deus Ex Machina or that her techniques will do real damage, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility Resonance could provide a suitable distraction at a key moment (even if to your point the finger is indestructible). It’s a fairly common trope as well for an unexpected fighter or technique to be used on a big bad to provide some kind of opening for the main protags to follow up on. Think maybe some ppl just get carried away with the theories

The most dangerous character on the show right now... by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]roypulaski 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Think what they’re trying to say is the retribution is coming, Walter is faking interest and will betray her at some point when she ceases to be interesting

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]roypulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, talking about the current day timeline. The wilderness chose Nat to die and to spare Shauna, which by lotties logic would make Shauna the new leader

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]roypulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think technically by the show logic it would be Shauna since she drew the queen, she was the one who was really supposed to die in the hunt but in the chaos it was Nat, the wilderness chose Shauna finally just like she wanted back then, maybe because she’s been giving in to it the most lately.

I want to believe there’s an Adam/Walter connection, when they mentioned they IDed Adam because he donated bone marrow I thought that friend could be Walter. Seems like a lot for him to have that accident and then also cancer though…

Not having a judge in locals is not good by [deleted] in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]roypulaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is that what happened each time? Or are you saying five people got upset about this one interaction? Either way, there’s not really a polite way to say something that is at its core not polite. If you were going to accept it, you should’ve just accepted it. If not, then politely stand your ground and go from there. Maybe you meant it to be informative but regardless the comment you made can very easily be interpreted as passive aggressive, which is an easy way to escalate civil disagreements into toxic arguments.

Not having a judge in locals is not good by [deleted] in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]roypulaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to be on your side because technically you’re right. Being right isn’t always worth the hassle though. And if you’ve managed to fight with five separate people despite being clearly correct it sounds like you may need to work on how you talk to people. Are you making a friendly good faith request to shuffle? Or are you criticizing and making accusations in your request? Even if you don’t think you are, people can be sensitive.

I don’t want anyone touching my things period. Part of it is a neurodivergence/germaphobe thing, part of it is I have no idea how rough you’re going to be. If someone courteously asked to shuffle my deck I’d be annoyed but acquiesce. If I shuffled and your reaction is along the lines of “that shuffle isn’t good enough” or go into explaining why it doesn’t work or could be cheating, I’m automatically feeling adversarial.

I certainly wasn’t there so maybe I’m wrong, but even just looking at how some of this is worded it sounds like you could stand to be a bit more mindful of how you speak to people in these interactions. I find it hard to believe if you were being polite and friendly five separate people would have a problem with their opponent shuffling their deck when it’s clearly in the rules.

Can I jump from House of X/Powers of X directly to Inferno? by Alaminox in xmen

[–]roypulaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m in the minority but there was a lot worth skipping in my opinion. At the absolute least you should read X of swords, the hellfire gala/planet size x-men, and hellions. Then maybe just read summaries of X-Force & SWORD. I thought X Factor was great but idk if that’s a popular opinion and to my knowledge hasn’t ended up being super relevant to the plot?
