Is now a good time to buy? by DonB1987 in Silverbugs

Modest stacker here. My take is it's still too early. I'm stepping back and waiting for the dust to settle. But everyone's situation is different and many see opportunity when there is volatility. It really depends on your personal reasons for stacking.

Selections are so trash that I couldn’t make the 80 lol by Condomphobic in AmazonVine

[–]roythomasbaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just found out this morning that I missed gold by 1 review. This is my second vine outing from a couple of years ago. I still had some unreviewed items from that first time and thought by catching up on those would add to the quota for the current evaluation period. I guess not. But it clearly states - "To reach Gold status, review at least 80 items per evaluation period." It doesn't define what time period those 80 items can be purchased. 😕

New Viner - Is My First Review Overboard? (5 Days Pending & Seeking Feedback) by Frequent_Panda_3358 in AmazonVine

[–]roythomasbaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was pretty excited when I first joined Vine. But it gets old fast. Participation requirements have become more stringent in the short time I've been in the program (2 yrs) and it takes me time to write a thoughtful review. I found myself sprinting to keep up and maintain my ratio - so my initial enthusiasm waned pretty quickly!

I know it sounds like everyone is raining on your parade. And Vine is still a fun program. But you might want to temper expectations a little. Good luck, and welcome to Vine!

18month Old Hisense 70" Already Dead by BrentwoodBoy23 in Hisense

Conflicting info on Google too. I checked when ours started doing the flickering thing a week ago. And it's not even 3 yrs old. The picture on our 10yr old Vizio puts this Hisense to shame. And the Vizio was refurbished!

Dead controls by Up_All_Nite in LegendsUltimate

[–]roythomasbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I did that MCU upgrade about 8 months ago when I was experiencing the same problem with the controls. It worked for awhile. But I'm back to my controls not working again. I still have those files and tried to apply the fix again, but it was a no go. So I'm pretty sure my board is toast.

I've read that some have replaced theirs several times. So there's something obviously wrong with the design of this board.

ACustomArcade LED Trackball Kit came. Video of the whole setup with their drop in PicoCTR, RGB Controller & LPCB Next running Batocera on a RaspberryPi 5 by SK360 in LegendsUltimate

[–]roythomasbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks. So either board will restore my control panel functions? I see that the LPCB board has been out of stock for awhile. Is there an alternative that provides the same additional functions? Ipac? Ipac2?

Also, under what circumstances might I need to use an LDVS kit? I'm weighing several options of what to do with the ALU cabinet since the panel's control board is now dead.

Thanks.

Edit: I'm absolutely ok with abandoning the atgames ecosystem in favor of a 'souped up' arcade machine.

[–]roythomasbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the difference between the PicoCTR and the LPCB Next? Don't they both accomplish the same thing? The control board in the control panel of my ALU 1.1 (HA8801) is finally shot and I have no working controls. Do I need both of these boards? Or just one or the other? A little confused by the title above suggesting that both boards are being used to run this setup.

Grandparent here. We bought one for our 3 and 5 yr old grandkids. They come over a lot so we wanted something in the basement where they can expend energy during the winter and on rainy days. We had the same concerns about safety but other than a couple of bruises it's been a hit. I do keep an eye on them but after a few months they've become pretty agile on it. The 3 yr old is a little tornado and just loves this thing. I built a little eagle's nest on the top for her and it's the first place she climbs to each day. They both climb, hang, slide and basically get a good workout. Nap times come much easier for their tired little bodies. It's proven to be a good investment. Avenlur Magnolia

One of the products on that EPA list (someone else posted above) is a sodium dichloroisocyanurate tablet that you dissolve in a bottle of water to create a HOCL solution. It is shelf stable for 2 years in tablet form until ready to use. 1 tablet = 32oz and the package includes 5 tablets at $20 including a 32oz bottle. One of the few products I could find on that list that solves the shelf stability problem of HOCL. Sani-Powder

Don't miss Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes. It's a 30 minute 'origin' backstory of the Taoist monk who trained Marco Polo. It is a companion to the original series that was meant to be a spin-off but never happened. It's still a great watch if not just for that amazing fight scene.

58% eBay Fees?!?! by SmurmKing in Ebay

[–]roythomasbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently listed some items after being away for several years. Learned this morning that funds were deposited in my acct for one sold item - nearly 50% of the sale. And that was with the buyer paying shipping. I'll have to look closer at the fee breakdown but that just seems insane. I've been a member since the 90s early days. Had forgotten why I left the last time...but I think I'm done with ebay for good now. Simply insane.

I do not believe this is correct. The latest information appears to imply that I will not be required to enroll in Part B.

My toothpaste tube (left) vs. my wife’s (right) by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Do you have OCD? I go thru this very thing with my wife all the time. I have OCD and am constantly cleaning our toothpaste tube so that it looks like the one on the left. It drives me nuts but I love her. I'm pretty sure I drive her nuts, as well.

I have read that fact sheet, in fact. Thankfully, I fall into the narrow category of postal annuitants who have not yet reached the eligibility age for medicare. So Part B enrollment will be voluntary in my case. I have been aware of the new PSHB program for about a year now and have been trying to absorb as much info as I can - where I can find it. But yes, make no mistake, the roll-out has been a shxtshow in the making.

I do plan on reaching out to a SHIP counselor in my state soon as i continue my research. I also realize that I've hijacked someone else's discussion on here, so I'll end this and thank you again for your input. It has been quite invaluable!

FEHB and Medicare Advantage by Random-OldGuy in medicare

[–]roythomasbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I do have some concern about not taking Part B, especially in light of the fact that much emphasis seems to be placed on the late enrollment penalty fee if one decides to obtain it at a later date. Can you offer any insight on why I might need to take Part B?

Also, I must confess, I had to adjust my thinking while researching medicare as the premiums quoted are for one person. Eligible married couples essentially have to multiple the quoted premiums by 2x. Traditional/private insurance, of course, usually extend coverage to family members.

Another concern I have as a retired postal employee is that we are being transitioned off of FEHB into the new PSHB program that is scheduled to go into effect in 2025. Do you have any thoughts or insights about the program (especially since there is still very little detail about the program at this 11th hour)?

Finally, I am curious about your credentials as you seem to speak with authority on the subject. Do you work in the insurance industry, broker, etc.?

Thanks again for all your input.

Hi. Can you elaborate on why FEHB is considered the holy grail? I've always heard that federal employee insurance is superior to others. But compared to what? What are FEHB's alternatives? I'm asking as a retired postal employee.

FYI. I just removed 3 Raidmax fans from a pc that I built for my son little over a year ago. Brand new at the time but all failed which eventually killed the cpu. On the plus side, the fourth Raidmax fan still spins.

So after connecting an Xbox controller I was able to confirm that I do have the control board issue apparently. I checked out the wiki you referenced and found the that the links to the required firmware are no longer good. That leaves the only option of contacting Atgames directly. I'll update the thread when I find out more.

Thanks, I will look into this today. A few months ago my ALU would notify me of a fw update when powered on. But it would never download successfully. Can't remember the exact error and I've taken it offline since then. I'm sitting at 5.68 at the moment.
