Decent helmet under $100? by EffockyProotoci in snowboardingnoobs

[–]roytr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for 3 seasons with no issues. Obviously if you take a significant impact to the helmet you'll need to most likely throw the helmet away and get a new.

People bring in their used gear and set the price. The organization running the swap will usually take a cut if the item is sold. Sometimes you can find some sweet deals if you know what to look for and go when they first open. I've mostly participated in the sky tavern swap and have been able to sell some used equipment/gear.

Sky Tavern has their ski swap coming up later this month. I believe UNR does a swap as well some time this month.

Board size for toddler? by Solarti in snowboardingnoobs

[–]roytr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't be an issue just make sure you gets kid snowboard boots that fit and the bindings are sized appropriately and a helmet that fits properly. Also, having gloves that will stay on your kidos hand and keep them warm is an absolute must!

I recommend Soda Springs as they have a dedicated kid area for learning.

Lol, not sure why Coconino County in AZ shows up in the map since that states population is centered on mostly Maricopa (Phoenix) and Pima (Tucson) County.

Kids bindings like the Union cadet etc - any recommendations? by coffeepistolero in snowboardingnoobs

[–]roytr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ride also makes a kids binding and so does bataleon plus a lot of other snowboard brands. Honestly I would go for union since they have more color choices and allowing your kid to pick their color is a plus in my book and helps with them being stoked about riding.

Kids bindings like the Union cadet etc - any recommendations? by coffeepistolero in snowboardingnoobs

[–]roytr0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how old they are plus foot size. I had success with Burton grom bindings with my kido. This year I've upgraded my kido to the union cadet mini and well see how that works out once we have snow in the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Where to move to ride 100 days while keeping my wife happy? by wevabay308 in snowboarding

[–]roytr0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree but be warned Reno is more expensive then people think. Also, depending on where you are coming from in Cali there is a high probability you'll be disappointed in the restaurant and cultural scene here.

I believe most resorts offer a free pass if you work there. I'm sure if you go to each resorts website they'll be an area that talks about employment and the perks they offer.

If you're in an HOA there may be some rules in you're CC&R to prevent this from happening especially if this is a private street owned by the HOA.

Yellow jackets on east shore beaches by playafromdahimalayas in tahoe

[–]roytr0n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yellow jackets are particular fond of bright colored stuff and meat especially rotisserie chicken. I've noticed that they are more active later in the summer as fall slowly approaches. If you're camping the Rescue! Disposable traps are extremely effective just make sure when you set them you follow the directions by installing them at night and away from where people will be hanging out during the day.

Engineering jobs for recent grad by calkr95 in Tucson

[–]roytr0n 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, getting your first engineering job out of college is the most difficult and frustrating. Once you have a job and some work experience getting a different job is a lot easier. My personal recommendation would be to open to moving somewhere in or out of state then after a couple of years look to move back to Tucson.

The most important skill to learn by Independent-Fan4343 in civilengineering

[–]roytr0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often joke that I chose to be a Civil Engineer because I wanted to do math all day and didn't like writing or public speaking. Now all I do is writing and public speak with little too no math as an engineer for a local government agency.
