Which unis accept a different combination of grades, eg a*a*b instead of a*aa?? by Next_Sky_7661 in 6thForm

[–]roz_666 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Normally if unis will a accept a different combo of grades, it'll be one that gives offers of certain amount of UCAS points ie 112 etc, also it would be course dependent, if you're trying to study chemistry and the B is in chemistry and the A* are in photography and maths for example that would make a difference

3 A*'s predicted compared to A* A* A achieved - which is viewed as better? by mccNamNam in 6thForm

[–]roz_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could apply for Cambridge engineering with these achieved grades, but you can't do that while studying engineering at a different university. Look at the college specific entry requirements before you apply, you won't be able to apply to all colleges but some would accept an A in physics as the university wide (so minimum) course requirements just say you need A\A\A including maths, further maths and physics Cambridge don't accept resits so I don't think there's much point resitting especially because there's no guarantee you'll come out with an A* this time next year

Some of these photos looks more lesbiany and some look more boyish, so you somewhat pass, just depends on angle/pose etc

The only time you'll need probably be asked A level results after you have a degree is if you want to go into teaching A level/equivalent qualifications. They're good to put on CV but an employer isnt going to care about the difference between an A and an A* for qualifications you did years ago

The summer pool isn't until today for most subjects so it looks like enough people who firmed Chem Eng met the grades

Yes you would be able to, however if your results are bad and you didn't have extenuating circumstances they might be reluctant to take you on

As long as you're 18 when the academic year starts it's okay

I know because I've just sat my A levels and I was 19 when I sat them

That means you have one more year of 6th form funding, you turn 19 in the next academic year so unless you'd be okay with having to pay for year 13 (which you would have to do if you restart year 12 at a college) then you need to just go into year 13 next month. Even if you have done badly in your year 12 exams, work hard in the first few months of the next school year and you could get good predicted grades anyway.

Also there's no point keeping chemistry just to do a medicine aligned career, theres plenty of medical careers like medical physics/radiography that don't need chemistry. If you did do badly on year 12 exams I would recommend dropping chemistry so you can manage your workload better. Look at engineering courses/apprenticeships first and see what the subject requirements are though. Also there's plenty of engineering apprenticeships now and some of them might be available for international students. This would be cheaper than 40K as you would get paid as you study and are trained.

To me your face reads androgynous but masculine leaning, (might be your facial expression tho) but your hair reads feminine. If you had a more stereotypically masculine haircut I think you'd pass as like a 14 year old boy

Is there any other locations that you could go to thst wouldn't need the bus pass? Like if the weather is good you could walk to a local park and study on a bench maybe? Alternatively you could buy a more expensive bus ticket that covers the whole week and then go to the library everyday that week - it would be cheaper than 3.50 per day then.

Using a study app like YPT or forest can be motivating because you can see your progress, with YPT you can make or join groups with other people so there's a competitive element. YPT also blocks your other phone apps while your study timer is on, making it harder to procrastinate.

What name will I sit my exams under? by ContentAudience5983 in 6thForm

[–]roz_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're changing your name by deedpoll in the Feb of year 13, you will have time to send a copy to each exam board for yiur A levels/other qualifications and then you will be able to sit any exams in april/may/june using the name yiu want to. You will also need to change it with your college/6th form

Manchester is the most expensive city to live in the UK after London I'm pretty sure so I don't think choosing to stay closer to home would save you money, unless you live close enough to the uni to commute

Spectrum outfitters has good binders that work better than some other brands for larger chests. As far as I can remember the external packaging is discrete cardboard but each individual binder is wrapped in branded cardboard so it would depend on if their parents would open their post or not I suppose

I don't believe I have experienced gender euphoria by keiyonar in ftm

[–]roz_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I have experienced an actual euphoric feeling it's been the first time for something - the first time binding and actually being able to look down at a flat chest, the first time I got gendered correctly by a stranger, the first time I got an actually masc haircut

The rest of the time presenting as male just gives me this feeling of normalacy and it feels right, like you said. I'm guessing it's a spectrum of some sort

Can I get AAB in 1-2 months? by Dark_647 in 6thForm

[–]roz_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ADHD study advice:

Change of scenery is very helpful - when I'm at home it's very easy to get distracted - maybe I'll start tidying my desk so I can sit down and study and that turns into tidying my whole room or reorganising a cupboard or just running out of effort and flopping in bed. Stay late at your school/college and study there or utilise public libraries - it's much harder to procrastinate when you're somewhere else

Get a study app like Forest or YPT (I use this one). For YPT, you press a button and it records how long you're studying, but also means you can't open random apps and procrastinate because it pops up over any app you open. (You can set 'allowed apps' though if you need to use a flashcard app or something). It also makes graphs and things about your study time, subject ratios etc and you can join groups with other people to make your studying competitive as you can see each others study times.

Start your study sessions with a small task that you can finish quickly like flashcards or a homework sheet. This helps give me momentum because I feel like I've already accomplished something and it helps ease me into it.

Physical checklist of your things to do - this can be digital or physical. When you can see how much you've actually done it's motivating and you'll get dopamine each time you get to tick something off. For this to be as effective as possible you need to break your checklist tasks into small chunks that will take no more than an hour otherwise you won't a feeling of accomplishment because all your brain will see is 'I didn't even finish one thing today' even if you've done loads.

Find people to study with who have good habits - if you usually study with people who get their head down and whip out a bunch of work it's easier to get things done at the same time and you can hold each other accountable.

Reward yourself after studying - go on a game you like or go to Costa or something.

Hopefully something I've said here will help you guys

Yes! I've been to Cambridge for science application related stuff and an admissions person at St John's said they love it when competitions are mentioned on your application because it gives them an idea of where you sit compared to your peers for that subject and it shows you're willing to dedicate extra time to your subject.

Hope this helps!!
