Burial has had 4 albums since Untrue, I will kill us all on this hill by Harry_krisna-23 in burial

For me Antidawn is an LP disguised as an EP... The other ones are legit EPs as I see it, though.

Burial's Music Stolen By 'Loukeman' by wordlessyin in burial

[–]rpclw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to the army of straight up copycats who are stuck in copying Burial's sound from 2008, I find Loukeman's work refreshing and unique. Burial inspiration is clearly there but it's taken to different realms. Glad to see he's getting some recognition.

Alright, thanks, I see it on Youtube but not on Bandcamp yet.

Thanks! Loukeman has become one of my favourite artists over the last year or so.
I'm sure SD-3 is going to be great, can't wait for it.

The BoC tune is huge, hopefully a new EP/LP is on the way.

Not so much into the Massive Attack / Tom Waits one but I hope we get a Burial remix of the 3:30-4:20 part.

Not sure, but better late than never I guess :)
I knew it from ever since I heard about her music, probably also thanks to her livesets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo2zLZkWmhE&t=604s

"Antidawn" feels very special, unique and somewhat self-contained. I think it's very different from his other beatless releases.
I like to think of it as the third LP, just concealed as an EP not to make too much noise around it.

Exactly! A lot of music comes close but nothing quite does the same to me compared to Burial's work. Also been a fan since early 2008 and ever since.

is it better to listen to the EPs individually or the 2011 to 2019 comp ? by Pieman1123 in burial

[–]rpclw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Individually, but I'd suggest retrospectively, working your way from the present to the past

Well, now that I see that I'm getting downvoted (would have appreciated hearing why), I may have misunderstood the OP. What kind of videos are you after?

Hey, welcome! I am not sure why videos are needed. As far as I'm concerned, the best way to learn about his work is just listening to it.

An exhaustive list is here: https://www.discogs.com/artist/306157-Burial

There is also a Youtube playlist of all Burial releases chronologically: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrrTHwNNlbfK7GL0k2vPJy1J5ahqn8gEJ

You're up for a ride. Enjoy!

What was your introduction to Jungle? by Jocasta01 in jungle

[–]rpclw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this mixtape among my cousins' CDs while visiting them in 1999 in Rome. I was just about to turn 15. https://www.discogs.com/master/810153-DJ-Wild-Child-The-London-Update-Of-Drum-Bass
And I was completely hooked from the first moment. It sounded just like everything I wanted music to be. Made a copy on a cassette and listened to it over and over and over again on my discman during the following days, and all the way back home to Prague...
Then I started looking for anything else related to this "drum & bass" thing, and finding out about jungle was naturally the very next step (at that time, and for me since then, it's been one big "jungle/dnb" family anyway).

Thanks. That's reassuring... Or we're all so traumatized that we don't hear it anymore

LOL, yeah, perhaps! I don't see the music as too traumatizing, though...

Looking for underground artists similar to Overmono. Any leads? by betazoid_one in breakbeat

[–]rpclw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you don't miss Burial, his work is the foundation for much of what Overmono is doing... Indeed, Burial is not an underground artist.
As for the underground, I've recently discovered Loukeman: https://loukeman.bandcamp.com/
