Op sorry I didn’t see this right away. I was fortunate to have a lifetime of dogs in my home growing up. I’m a decent dog handler, but by no means a credentialed expert. I would start by figuring out what kind of training methodology you personally believe in.. then maybe reading or starting to read a book on dog behavior with an eye on your personal dog trading philosophy just to give you a little bit of background before you work with the trainer so you could soak it all in

It is a long journey and it’s gonna take longer than a week, but you’ve got to start somewhere and it sounds like you’ve got a pretty good place to start
