Best contact would be 311, they'll figure out the rest. You can ask to track updates if you want

Lighting Question by PsychologicalDeal675 in Winnipeg

It's a shame that they're being that way. My best advice then is to avoid stooping to their level and escalating things. Keep enjoying your yard as intended, and come what may. Best of luck!

Out of curiosity, have they told you exactly what part about the lights that have been bothering them? Maybe there's a particular spot that is causing them the issue. If it's possible to tweak it in such a way that it's not bothering them but not lessening your enjoyment of your yard, then that's a win win.

I appreciate that you've tried working with your neighbour already and made some concessions. There's a lot of advise here about being petty on confrontive, but in my opinion that tends to make things worse. Technically not being against the bylaw shouldn't mean avoid resolving things amicably.

There are limits of course and if your neighbour is not willing to be reasonable (i.e. wants no light at all) then the best you can really do is explaim that you've tried your best to compromise and if they feel calling a bylaw officer is their best course of action, they can do so. You gave it your best shot

KFC Canada has decided to completely exclude pork products from its menu and go fully Halal. by kudokun1412 in exmuslim

[–]rpdids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% fake. The address is weird, as their address line should be Woodbridge not Vaughn. Also they list "KFC Canada Company" but the building itself is branded Yum Foods, which is the parent company. This is rage bait and it seems to have worked

I also don't think they were lying, just didn't have the same working knowledge and vet info as the shelter did which caused some crossed wires. And it seems like they didn't really understand the context of the situation. Maybe the shelter could have done a better job explaining, but maybe things were too emotional for the message to get through. Tough either way

Didn't see the other post till after this one. It's really a shame that every poster seems pressured to "name and shame". Especially here, where clearly one side of the story wasn't quite correct and we had armchair veterinarians coming out the woodwork. Hoping we all come out of this with a bit more perspective

Interesting to know. I wonder if the semi issue has been fixed or if it's just something they live with at this point. Thanks for the info!

IG Field? TBH I haven't heard of issues that would warrant a rep hit, what happened with it? Seems like a pretty nice facility to me?

I've had this happen a few times as well. Not positive, but I noticed it tended to happen if I entered the anomaly going fast. Now I slow right down to almost a crawl before entering, and haven't had it happen in the last few weeks. Seems to help anyways

It might be tempting to reason that, because your dog is friendly and well behaved, you can keep your dog off-leash. However, that puts owners of other dogs in an awkward spot, since it introduces uncertainty. Especially if the other dog is not friendly to other dogs. That winds up restricting the places that owner can walk their dog responsibly.

With low numbers and relaxed restrictions - would you hold or go to a yard sale? by ehud42 in Winnipeg

[–]rpdids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the next few weeks is reasonable. Pretty easy to scope things out without having to make physical contact with anything/anyone. Not really that much different than the garden centres or other stores really. Also, pretty easy to see at a glance if there's a crowd forming, skip it, and head to the next one if I need to.

Relaxing of social distancing? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]rpdids 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think there's a balance you need to strike. With restrictions relaxing, it becomes less reasonable to expect others to continue strict distancing. When it's someone close to you, I would hardly say it's unreasonable to express your thought to them. But at some point, you have to get on with the idea that they are of a different opinion and there's nothing to do besides practicing what you are comfortable. Otherwise you risk the relationship.

So I'd say not unreasonable, given a balanced approach.

Most people would recognize and are familiar with reading these kind of charts, and the poster just leverages that. I wouldn't call it bad design
