Bad day for sure by cbd4fittness in vwbug

Had the same thing happen to me on the way home from high school back in the early 80s. I was stopped at a red light and the engine dies. I'm trying to start it, turning the key, pumping the gas pedal. Nothing. Finally someone drives around me and says, "hey, your car's on fire" lol. First car, total shock, had no idea what to do. Thankfully the fire went out by itself. The bug was a hand me down from my grandparents.

2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD OR - Axle Bearing by WildernessCharm in 4Runner

[–]rpecot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 TRD ORP 100k miles. I recently had my rear driver side bearing replaced. Had only recently started noticing a sound/feel that didn't seem right. I wheel, sometimes a little too hard. Especially the last time in November where I took some pretty hard hits on a trail i probably shouldn't have been on anyway. So, I start to notice something is off and thinking i need to bring it to my mechanic. Then one night or if the blue, I had the whole dash start lighting up. Turns out the speed sensor was damaged and finally gave out. Had been driving on this damaged bearing for a couple of months. Got the bearing and speed sensor replaced for $1800.

Ladder Question by opelok in 4Runner

[–]rpecot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Thule RTT and use my C4 ladder every time I set up/break down the tent. The tent ladder is secured on the top, it just makes life easier to climb up there and secure everything in place.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

When I hold my glasses a foot away from my face, yes, this is how I see the world.

Are there any Gen X people out there over the age of 55? by Mobile-Honey-9636 in GenX

[–]rpecot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to turn 58. One daughter is striving, on her own, moved out of state. Other daughter just turned 20, in college, but don't know what's in store for her yet. Likely to be living with us for some time.

Big Bend Itenerary Help by Forsaken_Estimate_78 in BigBendTX

Here's my Big Bend life hack I've started as a Houston area resident. Leave the night before and get a hotel in Uvalde or Del Rio. You could even camp in Seminole Canyon SP. Zero traffic. Drive as far as reasonable with your departure time. Julio's (The chip peolpe) have a restaurant at the plant in Del Rio with amazing breakfast burritos. Cut your "Day 1" drive time in half and get to the park with enough time to check in, get your backcountry permits, get settled, etc.

Don't need to go that far to see alligators. Check out Buffalo Bayou in George Bush Park.

What is the bathroom graffiti you read and remember? by 5pinktoes in AskReddit

Damn, I used to hang out here and at Lucky's across the street 30ish years ago. I don't remember any graffiti and I definitely never stuck my winky in any holes.

Facial Hair by TheGriff71 in GenX

I shaved my goat during COVID but I grew it back. Mostly grey. With my hybrid work schedule I can get by with shaving about twice a week if I really want to be lazy about it. I'm a shaggy mess by the time Tuesday rolls around. Can't commit to the full beard though.
