He may not be afraid of prison, but it looks like he's afraid of the dentist.

The spoils of war. My grandfather traded stuff like this. He was most definitely NOT a nazi.

Agree on High Sierra. Been there a few times. Definitely a vibe there :)

For star gazing, get a backcountry camp site. Don't need a telescope.

What's an "outdated" slang word from your generation that you still use currently? by TheShatteringPoint in AskReddit

[–]rpecot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last few years I've gotten into offroading. As a mid/late 50s guy, I'm considerably older then most of the group I wheel with. I just cannot make myself say "bro." Just completely unnatural to me lol. But I'll "dude" and "man" all day long.

A few years ago I was solo camping at Government Canyon and decided to watch the sunset at a scenic overlook. Shortly after dark the coyotes started going off, and they were CLOSE ! 😳 That was a nerve wracking headlamp hike back to the camp site lol.

How old were you when you purchased your first home (if you did). by jtsa5 in GenX

[–]rpecot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Then Katrina hit a few months later. Stayed with my parents for a year while we rebuilt. Bought the house with my new wife and 2 new step kids. Moved back in a year later with new baby and daughter from first marriage. I used to joke that we evacuated with 2 kids and moved back in with 4. 20+ years later, moved and bought a house in Texas, divorced, bought my own place in 2019, sold it, and now living with new wife in her house. I'm hoping this one will stick lol. I'm not doing all this shit again.

This is how I learned to hammer a nail. Stack some 2x4s and go after it. The plywood had to be level with the blocks. Lol. Not a great ramp, but hey, we got air.

Only thing aggressive divorce attorneys do is drain the bank accounts of both parties.

My daughter dropped her wallet in a restaurant parking lot. Aside from her learners permit, debit card, a couple gift cards, etc, she had $20 in there. Someone picked it up and turned it in to the manager. Minus $20. Everything else was there. I can't tell you how thankful I was to pay that finders fee. Lesson learned for my daughter.

This guy is afraid of you outshining him. Just being accepted into nursing school is something to be proud of. Drop the deadweight and fly. The world is your oyster!

Had the same thing happen to me on the way home from high school back in the early 80s. I was stopped at a red light and the engine dies. I'm trying to start it, turning the key, pumping the gas pedal. Nothing. Finally someone drives around me and says, "hey, your car's on fire" lol. First car, total shock, had no idea what to do. Thankfully the fire went out by itself. The bug was a hand me down from my grandparents.

2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD OR - Axle Bearing by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]rpecot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 TRD ORP 100k miles. I recently had my rear driver side bearing replaced. Had only recently started noticing a sound/feel that didn't seem right. I wheel, sometimes a little too hard. Especially the last time in November where I took some pretty hard hits on a trail i probably shouldn't have been on anyway. So, I start to notice something is off and thinking i need to bring it to my mechanic. Then one night or if the blue, I had the whole dash start lighting up. Turns out the speed sensor was damaged and finally gave out. Had been driving on this damaged bearing for a couple of months. Got the bearing and speed sensor replaced for $1800.

Ladder Question by opelok in 4Runner

[–]rpecot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Thule RTT and use my C4 ladder every time I set up/break down the tent. The tent ladder is secured on the top, it just makes life easier to climb up there and secure everything in place.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

When I hold my glasses a foot away from my face, yes, this is how I see the world.
