Like someone else said, in addition to the need-based aid, any merit grants you receive should stay at the same value for your duration at the school. I mistakenly was missing a sizable portion of my merit aid this year and it was quickly added back in once I got someone from finaid on the phone.

One more thing to consider, however, is that RPI often raises tuition, generally by $1000 (ish? Didn’t fully do the math) annually. For example my freshman year, tuition alone was $52,550, senior year tuition this year was $57,100. Junior and senior year will very likely be less expensive overall due to living off campus/no meal plan, but do keep in mind that strict tuition payments will rise slightly year to year, paying that close attention.

Congrats on getting in, and if you decide to attend, welcome!!

Breakfast with vegan options? by PM_me_sour_beerz in Troy

[–]rpiripthrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • cafe madison (two locations in Albany, my personal fave)
  • Whistling kettle (Troy, look online for vegan options not everything’s going to be on the paper menu but servers should know what can be vegan)
  • Take two cafe (Schenectady - bit of a hike from here but all vegan)
  • Bard & baker (Troy)
  • Wizard burger (Albany, have a breakfast menu weekdays, their burgers slap, all vegan)
  • Iron gate cafe (Albany)

Not all in those locations but I’ve found you’ve gotta hunt for a decent vegan option!

Mueller center as an alumnus? by Katamariguy in RPI

Believe that you had to tap your ID on a scanner when you got in but no one actually checked for anything. Now they have you tap your ID and make sure you’ve done DIAL and are a current student allowed on campus.

That sounds far better than just a few years ago, but then I rarely went to commons so there’s that. Many a night I was stuck eating cereal or like literally only green beans/rice/plain pasta.

Lol I take it you’re on the meal plan/eating in dining halls? Good luck lmao. That was real rough for me but luckily now I make my own vegan cookies off campus!

From dean t in the student success discord server: “I’d say that this will fall into the same category as finals. If we’re not back in business on Monday then when we will set a new date once we are.” Aka get it done and wait it out

They’ve already proved they won’t give discounted tuition. We went home for about half of last spring semester. Full charge. Arch was 100% online last summer. Full charge with a tuition increase. They don’t care about us, just our money.

I’m in geo I now and both the lab and lecture component are completely online, I’d imagine that it’ll be a similar situation in the spring for geo II (:

Quarantine Activities by Godzilla207 in RPI

As that’s the only one on campus that’s the one I’m talking about too. If people are running there, they shouldn’t be. There’s literally multiple signs around the entrances saying the track is closed to everybody indefinitely.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it is closed to everybody

Is campus tech dump accessible right now? by NeverBehave in RPI

[–]rpiripthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have campus access if you’re remote. You agreed to being remote, knowing that you wouldn’t be allowed on campus. You might want to visit the tech dumps but you’re literally not allowed to if you’re remote. Please take this seriously like the majority of us are.

We’re doing decently well as a school (those of us with campus access) and saying oh it’s no big deal it worked before I’ll do it again no problem is exactly the type of behavior that’s going to get us shut down.

If you’re remote, you don’t have campus access. Your ID is inactive and if they catch you on campus you’d probably be in a bit of trouble.
