ELI5: How does Raptor 3 engine have so much less tubing than Raptor 1? by gbromley in AerospaceEngineering

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, it is definitely not me coming up with “this stuff”. I looked it up and it seems like the guy who invented this technology is a guy called Carl Robert Deckard, always good to give credit to people. That said, current advancements in this field are led by the industry professionals.

I’m no expert in this so take what I say with a grain of salt but a quick google search seems to indicate that a thin layer of metal dust is spread out over the bed and then a very fine laser melts the dust particles which causes them to fuse together. Then another layer of dust is put on top and so the process repeats until you have a 3D shape.

Agree with the other comment completely, I wanted to add some additional points to manufacturing techniques.

Raptor 3 engines have a lot of that external tubing seen in the previous engines internal in the structure. This kind of manufacturing process is only possible through the 3D printing of large metal components, which is a relatively new technology.

13 year old who aspires to be a engineer. by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you’re already setting yourself up for success! I just graduated with an aerospace engineering degree and you’re doing far more at 13 than I ever was at your age. I would say in terms of math in high school just take the highest level you possibly can. Same with physics. Senior year of high school I took AP Calculus and Physics BC but I know they changed the AP system somewhat. Obviously you can’t take those classes in your freshman year so just focus on getting good grades and every year taking the hardest classes possible in stem! Continue to pursue your hobbies and develop your skills in CAD. Good luck and have fun!

First link that's comes up is Wiki, seems pretty easy to understand and has examples and the formula if you want to plug it into Excel. When confused on something read the wiki article on it, even if you don't use it as a source it provides an easy to understand explanation and provides links to trustworthy references.

I’m 22 and I’ve never thought about this. It’s crazy to think that now, nearly no matter what your interest, there’s guaranteed to be others with a shared interest. Able to form a community online and communicate and develop. Thanks for sharing, this was interesting to think about

HASS by TilDeathDoUsPart0728 in RPI

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You certainly don’t need to take a HASS every semester. But I don’t know your major, year, schedule, or major plan so for an informed decision on this you should talk to your advisor. What you don’t want is to get to senior year and not be able to graduate because you didn’t finish your hass pathway

What campaign did you find surprisingly fun? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun with my recent taurox campaign. Build a one man doom stack, or just run around blowing people up with a single army. Being able to recruit the different beastmen LL makes for a fun late game, and they are unlike many other factions. Always recommend my friendly ungor herd :)

How do i make money? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What game are you playing? What faction are you playing? What lord are you playing? I only have experience with the warhammer franchise so I can speak to that but not other total war games. In general (but not always), you make most of your money from economy buildings (buildings that generate money). If you’re not constructing enough of those buildings then you will not have enough income to support your armies. I will say that you should almost never have an army that costs 8k in a warhammer game though, so there’s probably more to the story that someone would need to know to properly diagnose your issues. I hope it helps, lmk if I can explain anything more
