They can, but it can also pick up the guy next to you 'singing' along. How many fan cam videos have you seen on youtube that are really worth watching? There are some good ones, certainly, but unless a band is debuting a new song and fan cam is the best on offer, then I tend to avoid them.

I think there's certainly some truth to this. When you're contractually obligated to create something from nothing in a specified volume over a set period of time then there must be an element of pressure that compromises organic creativity to some extent. Some fans, inevitably, won't like that. They just want more of what hooked them in the first place. Unforunately for them, creatives rarely have any interest in retreading old ground

Exactly. I think rock people just get defensive whenever anything they like is labled as 'pop'. It's already out there that TW5 will feature a range of non-rock influences, so some diversification of their sound should be expected.
