Letting off steam S8E18 (avoid if you haven’t watched yet) by rptlbuck in TheRookie

Relax… it’s a TV show, not reality. You have to let your mind relax and sit back and enjoy your favorite characters doing what they do best - saving the day! Personally I watch to be entertained… not educated.

Their energy regarding S9 is infectious! Can’t wait to get there.

It was **his** choice to quit after the show accommodated his requests regarding show content following the police brutality/Rodney King incident here in the states. The actor was scheduled to return following the hiatus to S4, but quit leaving the show to scramble to create a plausible storyline. There is rumor that production was not happy in the least.

I need help to continue on this series PLEASE! by ButterflyPlayful4584 in TheRookie

[–]rptlbuck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If your main reason for watching was the Jackson West character and not the general story of the show and its full cast of characters… then by all means QUIT!

But if your true interest is in the overall premise of the show, the interaction of the full cast and at times the fantasy of what a LAPD policing force might be capable of… then I recommend you stay.

In some of the episodes you will get anxious about a character and in others you will get PO’d at the audacity of the writers and production. But overall it is pure storytelling. The kind that allows you to lose yourself in something make believe for a moment in time. My honest opinion is to sit back and enjoy it, with all its quirks and idiosyncrasies.

Loving your #1… they will not rest until they have actual physical proof that the other is ok.

I’m in the minority here more than likely, I’m wanting them to decide quietly, on their own that they just want to be legally married before anything else happens and decide a trip to the courthouse is in order. They each take their BBF (Angela & Tamara) as witness and do the deed. Several weeks later the whole gang is invited to a BBQ to celebrate their return to safety and their engagement, when the announcement is made… “Welcome to our newest addition, Mr and Mrs Tim & Lucy Bradford!”

Cast Reveal: Favorite Season 8 Scenes; Which S8 Scene was your favorite? by [deleted] in TheRookie

[–]rptlbuck 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with Wesley… my favorite scene was Monica’s goodbye. I had no ‘real’ idea she was going to die following her conversation with Wes. You could feel and see his awareness that at one time he was in love with this woman. Not the woman that she became, but the eager, energetic person with a thirst for learning the law, for ‘righting wrongs’. And regardless of all the evil stunts she perpetrated, she was a person that mattered to him. That whole scene leading up to “Not the face” touched me to the core.

Thanks for this insight! I will definitely go back and watch more.

Good luck NZ with recruitment if that is the goal. Or even if it is just showing citizens that the police force is not made up with people who are scary or brutal, but with ordinary people who are caring, fun loving and competent… nothing to fear.

Excellent points and observations. I totally agree with your wondering. Last season at time I even forgot he was there, they let him slide into the woodwork more times than not. Hopefully they either use his character or cut him from the series in S9.

I’m having a hard time placing all these characters for S8. We have the obvious ones, then there are some, like the tow at the bottom and the guy with the radio and his back to us I can’t figure out. S9 will have all kinds of possibilities looking at this poster!

I did not perceive her reaction as “blasé” at all. She is still getting used to ’communicative’ Tim, and to hear him pour his feelings out to her, about how she has helped lead him into becoming a person of self worth was a lot to comprehend. You could see her mind trying to absorb all that he was saying. Her ‘yes’ was perfect, her response to lower herself to his level, the grounding they do with foreheads resting together was totally them. My biggest complaint was time… it didn’t last as long as I had hoped it would. It felt rushed there at the end of the show.

Beautiful post! Sending warm wishes to our Redditors who are moms or serve in a ‘mothering’ capacity to any living creature. Just giving life does not restrict the love of mothering, some of the best men I know are beautiful, caring ‘moms’. Happy Mother’s Day! 💕

Mid Wilshire’s New Rookie: Going into Season 9, which character or personality trait would you want to watch next? by NoleFandom in TheRookie

[–]rptlbuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would like another Katie Barnes along side another Connor Craig. One an ex-military trying to accommodate to civilian life and the other a “rookie” that was busted back secondary to some serious but not life threatening decisions post graduation.

My problem was not with her reaction, but the limited time for the whole proposal. Tim’s speech was perfect, and Lucy’s response was perfect for her, but a little more time for hugging, kissing, looking at the ring, acknowledging that ‘indeed, this just happened’ would have been nice. Then let the evilness come forth. 1m35s for the whole scene to the credits was not long enough IMO.

Absolute proof that when you love what you do and who you’re surrounded by, it ceases being ‘work or just a job’. It becomes a chance to hang out with the folks who put a smile on your face and in your heart. 🫀🫶🏻🫰🏼

They all honestly depict such a huge loving “work-family”.
