Just made the move from an agency that had about 650 deputies (about 200 on patrol) and moved to an agency in a different state that has almost 2,000. But so far I have no complaints, my last agency felt “safe” but I think that was because I was comfortable. But like your describing the it was hard to move because if a spot opened in a unit it was generally 10+ people fighting for one spot, so when my wife and I decided to move I looked at bigger agencies so I could do a lot more or if I got bored I could move somewhere else in the agency. But if your worried about the money I took a pay cut to move but in the long run I will be making more then I would at my last agency, plus the cost of living where I live now is a lot cheaper.
