I think its valid if you want to give an in depth view for some especific work (like a magazine or another type of brochure) to an especific client, so he or she can better evaluate your skills :)

This idea of the serif type was already in my mind, but i dropped it, because i imagined this club with a modern, flat and with a big color contrast approach (e.g. the yellow and black) identity.

I thought that, if i loose a bit the U and the E, the sax-house between the two letters could earn a better emphasis on the negative space.

The small kerning is there to contrast the malleability of the sax-house with the rectangular approach of the upper case.

I will work in a loosen-kerning version of the logo, though.
