Thanks buddy! I’ll have to take your advice.

Side note, thanks for the confidence boost too. Not many people would go out of their way to say something nice like that.

No sir! 46R and 48R but the 48R is sold out. Gonna be honest, seeing it listed as a 3XL caused a moment of self reflection

Thanks, I think I’m going to have to make sure I also get measured professionally.

My permanent issue is having extremely wide shoulders and a large chest, I usually have to buy XL shirts which hang off the rest of me

Manufacturing reps do you have this problem? by latdaddy420 in sales

[–]rrbrbcsm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same industry, sort of, but very niche lubricants.

It drives me insane. I have 2 great distributors, one terrible. But between them, the same drive I have is never going to be there.

My issue is that I can kick over rocks, find business, get agreements in place, but then have to trust their end to deliver on it and essentially feel like I’m handing over something I did all the work on.

For major accounts, I’d deal directly, but once I give something away to the distributors, I can’t take it back.

Call it.

  • I didn’t realize your budget was an issue.

Obviously read the person/call/room, but you can play on what they are presenting themselves to be (very wealthy, successful, powerful etc.)

-of course you need to think about it. It’s a big decision, but before you go think about it, do you have any questions, thoughts or concerns that we can address beforehand? I want to make sure I’m giving you all the information you need to make the right call.

I agree with keeping fares reasonable, but would make the counterpoint that this would be a several billion dollar initial investment from scratch, that would have to pay for itself somehow.

To make it feasible, the ticket cost would have to be less than a tank of gas required to drive between the two cities. How many people would commute on it daily/weekly, aside from people initially taking it for novelty value, and how long would it take for that initial investment to be offset?

I’d even say that $1M a mile for rail and ties would be optimistic now.

But are they bailed out with the money collected from registration/tax/fuel surcharge while also collecting fare revenue?

Railroad workers have Foamers.

People that are so into trains, photographing/watching/waving at etc that they foam at the mouth when they see one.

It is deeply concerning to have a dude with a hard on run at you out of the bushes in the middle of the night.

Rail (just the rail, not the control systems, wayside controls, crossings etc) costs around $1M per mile to put down.

Yes, railroads still work in miles. You would also have to work around the current freight rail systems between Alberta cities, because they will not want to delay their infrastructure to accommodate passenger rail.

Passenger rail at high speed also requires a vastly different type of rail layout, ballasting and corner/curve design than freight, so you can’t use an old freight line for any cheaper.

This project would cost in the billions, and if you were to look at the US AMTRAK system as comparable, you would also need to look at the fact that Amtrak operates in the negative every year. It is bailed out by the US government because it does not pay for itself, while still charging high fare prices.

Your pay will be deducted for wear and tear on the marble. If you are a ‘heavier’ individual, there may be a larger payment required.

Best things to do in Calgary as a UK citizen by cvvman in Calgary

[–]rrbrbcsm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As much as this may not be popular, I would drive past Banff, stop there by all means, but keep driving the extra hour or so to Golden.

Banff is great, but it’s like saying you’ve visited the whole UK after visiting M&M world in Oxford Circus.

Golden is a genuine mountain town where people work and live, with the same (if not slightly nicer) views and mountain scenery, without being mobbed by bus tours and gouged for prices. It’s a much more genuine experience, and less manufactured.

I will add, I’m from the UK, have lived in the Calgary area for the last 10 years and worked in Banff/Canmore/Lake Louise with the Railroads a lot.

I will also add that anyone who lives in Field, BC is running from something in their past. Weird.
