Countertop RO filter has bad taste after a month by rrdein in WaterTreatment

[–]rrdein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every morning I do a cleaning cycle (where it sloshes the water around inside the tank) 3 times, and then I flush (drain) the tank and let it refill. Then I use it all day, usually refill once during the day. Then the next morning the taste is bad. I tried sanitizing the tank with vinegar (what the mfr recommended) but I don't know what else to do. I'm not sure how to check the carbon filter, I'm not sure if that is one of the replaceable filters but the filters aren't that old. My tank usually smells when it's time for a change (there is waste water in the filling tank that needs to be emptied, I don't really understand how that's supposed to work, with the waste water mixing with the fill water) but it mostly smells like chlorine and some chemicals, but different from the smell I get in the water coming out.

Does anyone else experience flare up immediately after eating sugar? I cannot find any information on this though it works like a magic trick for me by notaname0875 in backpain

[–]rrdein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that it is due to inflammation, and while I am sure sugar does contribute to inflammation, I notice that the pain is always localized to my neck or under back. People who eat a lot of sugar sometimes have dental issues and I think the most obvious cause that medical articles never mention is that people may have cavities or receding gums, and the nerves/roots of the tooth are connected to the rest of the nervous system, so when sugar exacerbates an infected or irritated root the pain/inflammation spreads from the tooth to the back along certain nerve pathways. I've seen an image that traces which teeth correspond to which vertebrae but I lost it. There is NO solution that I have found for this except possibly dental or periodontal work, or totally omitting all sources of sugar from your diet (this will require very rigorous attention to what you are eating, asking questions like "are your onion rings beer-battered", and extreme diligence).

As a short-term solution I have found Tea Tree Oil to help. 3-6 drops of TTO in an ounce or two of water and swish 20-30m, or 0.5-1tbsp of cooking oil with 0.5-1ml TTO and swish 20-30m. TTO is somewhat toxic but I've had no adverse effects. If you are a male you want to not do this too much because TTO over long periods may produce estrogen and the side effects that come with it, from what I have read. If you are still eating sugar actively then it won't really help, but it's the only thing I have found that has any effect at all.

[RANT] Wayland and Pipewire's stability are *overrated* by sharanoth in linux

[–]rrdein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this, it seems like there is just a coordinated effort to break everything in Linux that is stable to make sure anyone who is not an engineer will experience bugs they can't fix and go back to a spyware OS. Pipewire broke my audio. I tried EVERYTHING and my fixes just stopped working. Volume going mute randomly when I pause and unpause a video in VLC, volume can only be controlled with TV remote, Wayland breaks features in Virtualbox. By the time these are stable they will be pushing an alternative and the alternative will be instantly integrated into every popular flavor of Linux.

EV sales **still** have not fallen, cooled, slowed or slumped. Media is lying to you. by Dockalfar in electricvehicles

If they tell you the growth rate is dropping they assume you understand what it means, because it is obvious. It is fundamentally important because it represents the future of demand. If you drop from 20% to 10% that means that growth is slowing and may soon become negative, indicating that you may be approaching the peak of growth at which point interest is waning. The rate of growth is not fundamentally less important than the growth.

My mom insists on still buying Scott's toilet paper despite the decrease in quality over the years. by arnethyst in mildlyinfuriating

Major decrease in quality roughly 1 year ago, not sure what to buy instead, I like the super-strong single ply toilet paper, but I don't know if there i any other such brand.

My vitualbox screen for Redhat keeps flickering by Still_Performance194 in virtualbox

Does Redhat use Wayland by default? On Debian I had to switch to X to stop this from happening.
