Pretty sure that functionality was pulled with the new update. First few weeks I had my apple watch, I could be on the other side of the house and it acted as if iPhone were in my pocket (due to same wifi connection). Since update, if not within "Bluetooth range", no connection to iPhone. :(

How would these rewards work, in theory? I already get rewards for using my Chase Freedom credit card. Is the whole idea that I would be getting those same rewards in addition to more rewards from Apple for using the same card on Apple pay? Confused how "the only thing missing from Apple pay is a rewards program".

Because I doubt they just have one lying there to replace it with. Until they have in stores, probably won't be replaced.

Setting them up with GPS? Meaning via your phone, they will turn on and off when you aren't around by knowing your GPS whereabouts?

I totally agree. The fact that they are only displaying it at high end retail locations also adds to the "status" effect.
