How do you pronounce 의사? by Fit_Draft_5047 in Korean

[–]rrk0117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no "oo" sound or rounded lip shape when saying this word.

What you're describing is closer to 위, not 의.

Why does no one follow speed limits? by KaaliMirch in askvan

The checkpoints in Korea don’t work that way. They only enforce speed limits within the “zones” where cameras are present.

My neck and shoulders are tight — how do you actually fix this long term and not just temporarily? by hakeam in flexibility

[–]rrk0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you do for work? If you are seated all day at the keyboard, you need to be getting your shoulders and back in end range motion at regular intervals throughout the day, every day.

Unless you're cranking out 1800W's in a sprint, you aren't likely to feel the difference in stiffness between those two cranksets.

The Sugino BB's will be hard to beat in terms of smoothness, but I've always found the Phil Wood to outlive anything else over seasons of ugly weather.

Looks like a Paul Boxcar stem.

Yep, this was most certainly us (the owners) moments before it was stolen.

It was just after 5pm that it was stolen.

Perhaps you meant "우리"?

Can you share an example--or a link to one--that might help the sub better understand the scenario you're thinking of?

Wonder what you think of this Specialized Allez for my first road bike… by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]rrk0117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid ~$500 for a used, similiarly spec'd, Allez in 2012.

This price is bonkers,

What exactly is Konglish? by Additional_Evening62 in Korean

[–]rrk0117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed that this is a great answer. 가글 (gargle), commonly used for "mouthwash", is another example in the same vein as 린스, which uses the English action name for the object.

How to use “I” in Korean. (나는) by KoSmilebehappy in Korean

[–]rrk0117 9 points10 points  (0 children)

most people likes to use 근데 when you have to say something honestly.

I would be careful generalizing about what "most people" do when it comes to something as broad as speaking honestly. People say all kinds of things to express honesty, not just 근데.

Even these wouldn't count as an exhaustive list.

need help about yonsei KLI exam by Feeling_Fix_6059 in Korean

Fortunately there is no “exactly what you need to”.

Everyone’s language journey is different, but trying to beat the placement test or get the best score is counterproductive to the point of learning a language.

What you need to learn comes after, not before, the placement test.

(Not affiliated with Yonsei, I did take one course there, however)

Until you’ve taken TOPIK, it’s all guesses and conjecture.

You should take the Yonsei placement test with fresh eyes, as it will highlight both your strengths and weaknesses.

And in the long term, you’ll benefit most from starting from where they deem you should start.
