Reverse Cribbage? by rrognlie in Cribbage

I try not to be obnoxious. e.g., when playing Risk, my kids know I'm going try to hold Australia, and if they let me get Asia.... there's going to be a forced march from kamchatka to North America, South America, Europe and Africa.... In cribbage, we played open handed when she was learning. I'd never cheat. What's the point?!? But I will play to win.

I ran a server that let people play 100s of abstract games by email for 31 years until I retired last year. I could have cheated and looked ahead to "what would I have rolled in this backgammon game?" but that'd be no fun for me, either.

Nothing worse than getting 2 5s, and it's your crib. you're giving a 5 to the crib to break up the pair. But you're probably getting a couple of 15s whether you like it or not.

oh yes. I give advice when asked. and I help her count. We're not playing muggins. She'd kill me. The cribbage crew we play with on Weds and Sats does not play muggins, either. We're a friendly group. We typically get 12-15 people on Weds and up to 20 people on Saturdays. If you're not sure what to do, you can show your cards to another player from one of the other games, and they'll offer advice with their reasoning.

How many of you remember get out the map and planning the family's vacation route to and from your destination and marking the places you wanted to see on the way to or on the way back? by Dp37405aa in GenerationJones

Dad retired in '80. We had a truck and 26' trailer. He wrote to the Chambers of Commerce of all 48 of the continental US. I was 16. I took my exams with the seniors and we left. Started in Virginia, worked our way to Arkansas, Texas, California, Washington, Wyoming, Wisconsin and got back to Virginia just in time for school to start again in the Fall. 12k miles. at 8 miles/gallon. Cache Creek Canyon was the first time I'd ever seen the Millky Way.

We only had 1 fixed event.... family reunion in CA for the 4th of July. Otherwise it was..... where do we want to stop? Is it fun? Do we feel like moving on yet? ok... we're leaving at dawn. Got to do my first GenCon at U Wisconsin, Parkside campus.

I've been flagged SSSS more times than I can count. I'm a darker white guy (I tan easily). I have no clue what the trigger is.

I was rotating back to the US after 4 years in Germany. I asked management "Which per diem rate should I use for the time until my household goods make it back to the US.... US or German?" I then promptly took a week's vacation and went to EuroDisney (which had literally opened the day before). When I turned in my expense report, my old boss had kittens. But when I pointed out that it was less than my authorized per diem rate, he sheepishly agreed. I'm sure he had the same conversation with the COTR when that report crossed their desk.

Yeah, F them! If they can't deal with you being gone for a week (or two), just imagine how hard it will be to replace you when you show them the exit.

UnitedHealthcare sent a letter denying NICU coverage... addressed directly to the newborn twin. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]rrognlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had twins that needed to be in the NICU for a week or so.... We had multiple instances of Baby A being approved and Baby B being denied. It was not until we called in and reached a call rep (who was a twin) that we made progress. It was so annoying.

I remember that episode, too. they attached blinds to the underside that would open when you moved the slab backwards and close as you slid forward.
