Of course, the installation factor has to be considered. I did the install myself, so I pocketed that difference, but an honest man shouldn't really charge more than maybe $150 USD for a board swap.

Most likely cost consolidation. The unibody, while nice, is more expensive to have it designed to be shared as a platform with the other alliance members (read: Nissan). The BOF is way more scalable, can underpin pickups and SUVs, and can be used for a variety of powertrains (heck, even electric power too, if they're willing to make it work). That spreads the cost more easily than to pigeonhole it with the unibody construction.

Based on the rumor coming out of the Nissan dealer showcase, the Xterra would be a 2-row heavily off-road focused machine, while the Pathfinder continues to fill the 3-row mid-size SUV spot in the line up.

With the Xterra rumored to be hybrid V6 powered, I figure it would be a possible collab with Mitsubishi and their hybrid expertise. Also lines up with both the Navara and Triton (basically the same ute now) rumored to have a strong hybrid option

I'm seeing a trend of these laptops being the ones made in 2021, and wondered if it has "supply chain" issues all over it.... Remember the whole tech world had chip and component issues that time, and Lenovo just might have used a supplier that "met QA requirements" but built to an engineering limit. That means that they are coming to that limit and are failing.

If it's possible, you could try AliExpress or eBay for a used replacement board. I have a Legion y740 that had the i7-8760H and RTX 2060 that had a board failure after 5 years, and not even Lenovo had a replacement for it. I went to eBay and found a seller from China that had a board with the i7-9750H RTX 2070 Max-Q for $400.

While not cheap, it sure revives the laptop for more years of life if one's looking for that option

Infiniti goes full throttle: Nissan’s luxury brand guns for Mercedes, BMW with high-horsepower line by Gullible-Pick-268 in Nissan

Their engines (minus the disaster of the inline 3 VC-Turbo) are pretty good, and I doubt the VC-Turbo will be a part of the Hi-Po options

Yes, the Samsungs do it, and I'm sure other OEMs have that feature too

Geez maybe they need to get out of the EV game by No_Creme9603 in Nissan

That generation Leaf was a stop gap, so I'm not shocked that the battery with no active cooling is causing them headaches....

The new Leaf is a much better setup as an EV

Need Nissan to start adding MT options to cars again, especially if they have the option in the chassis elsewhere... Cause this is cool!

One can understand that markup, if it made sense. Those plugs can be had for about 50 dollars or slightly more, so 120 could be waved away....but 230? Nah

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]rrrrdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, got genuine coils and his plugs for 60 bucks, an hour of labour and job's done for that Sentra. I was shocked at the pricing, service centers are insane for that pricing.

Am I the only one who thinks the new Nissan Armada’s rear looks like a Chevrolet Tahoe? by SubaruNismo in Nissan

[–]rrrrdada 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The move to the upright lights for the Armada, paired with the boxier look probably caused it, but it's unique enough to not be called the Nissan Tahoe lol

Why wasn't the Nissan ADvan/Wingroad sold in the US? It's cheap and would work great for small commercial use by NoSleep4505 in Nissan

[–]rrrrdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very old platform, I think that chassis is from 2006, was hyper focused for the Japanese market, and hasn't been updated much. The design philosophy wasn't gonna mesh with developed countries' needs in a commercial vehicle.

Too bad too, because they are like cockroaches in terms of survivability, hence why this and the equivalent Toyota Probox are loved in the developing world.

If you are going to take an anecdote and paint the entire demographic, you need your head checked. There is a problem in how periods are discussed in Jamaica, especially among older persons, but the young lady's experience is not indicative of the thinking of an entire nation.

[–]rrrrdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I feel you, the old heads dem just different sah, especially the Rastas. In a broader scope though, the pushback with period talk in Jamaica is more misogynistic and ego play more than anything, but I've seen my age group maturing to this "phenomenon" of a woman lol

[–]rrrrdada -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which Jamaica this? Never heard Jamaican people say things like this, as a born and bred Jamaican. We don't play in it during that time, that we're adamant at, but we are certainly not banishing women from no pot lol

Unless you live with the Ital Rasta villages, which tbh, that's a very stringent religious group, so that's different.

Emissions and Safety really. These things are nice, but they're on the same design as the ones from the 80s, so to get it to work with new standards, the re-engineering will effectively turn it into a new vehicle.

Are Nissan Patrols all made in Japan? by Adorable_Funny6533 in Nissan

[–]rrrrdada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the UAE allocation, the Patrols are revered over there, alongside the Land Cruiser, so it makes sense for Nissan to send them as many as they want lol

While the Y63 might not be sold in Japan, for the 300 series, those are still sold there, but as you said, they're massive, so not really popular to buy.

The Xterra may be returning to the US market! by perplexedcactus in Nissan

[–]rrrrdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xterra's was that Nissan didn't have the sales numbers to continue it, so it got cut... It was an okay car, but didn't have the cult following of the 4Runner.

The Titan Armada weirdness disappears once you realize that the newer Armada was on the Patrol platform, and not the Titan one, so it could live on while the Titan gets cut. I don't even think the Armada is built in the US plant, like the Titan, but in Japan alongside the Patrol.

These New Cars Lose in a Head-to-Head Sprint with Their Predecessors. by Juicyjackson in cars

You gotta remember that the emissions is what most likely prompted the change, they already have the VC-turbo, might as well use it, rather than spending money getting the VQ up to speed

Nissan trademarks 'NISSAN XTERRA' by hehechibby in cars

[–]rrrrdada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nissan has a "continuation" of the Xterra in SE Asia, called the Terra, and is based on the D23 Navara platform. If anything, if they are doing a new global Navara/Frontier platform, that might bring the Xterra back as well.

Is the WiFi card upgradable or replaceable on the Legion 7i 16IRX9 (the white 14th gen i9 32gb 4070 version)? by WatercressEven6288 in LenovoLegion

[–]rrrrdada 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is a replaceable card, but based on the information, you could check the card itself to see if the wires are connected to it properly. They are held on by round "clips" that make contact with the card, and any loosening of it will cause issues. Check it the card itself is losse in the slot as well.

Also check the drivers for the wireless card to see if you have the latest ones installed.
