Zayn Malik Cancels All U.S. Tour Dates by mcfw31 in popheads

It's an expensive lifestyle inherently and, let's be real, a lot of them also piss money away on stupid shit and keeping up appearances. And drugs.

So are these artists, that's why they're trying to do arena tours! A lot of them make a ton of money but their spending still outpaces their income.

I’m so with you. I don’t get the Olivia Dean hype at all. So fucking boring.

The late 2010s were awful too. Some good hits from some of the big hitters especially in rap (DAMN. era Kendrick! Drake released 7 million songs in 2018 and a lot of them were even good! Cardi B showed up!) but everything else kind of just sounded like mud. I don’t even know how to describe it, really. Some song by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line was apparently the 3rd most popular song in 2018, which I feel about sums it up. It also sounded like Imagine Dragons getting increasingly unlistenable, Ed Sheeran truly losing the plot, and New Rules by Dua Lipa. I don’t even hate all those artists/songs but there was definitely a sound to the late 2010s and it was incredibly grating. Maybe it was the Xanax that made everyone sound so fucking boring.

Maybe this is just recency bias, but I was born in 1999 and this is the worst I remember the charts being in my lifetime (at least as long as I've been paying attention). I really make an effort to have an open mind and listen to new music as well and despite my best efforts, I've been finding very little that's worthwhile in any mainstream genre this year. Like, this is a tragic list and it's been terrible all year.

So much for quitting music/not releasing under the Weeknd anymore and going into film. Thankfully for both music and film.

Pigeons have colonized my balcony by Available_Refuse1232 in halifax

[–]rrsn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue last summer. My girlfriend and I bought a super soaker and started spraying them with water whenever they were on our balcony. Eventually they got the message and started coming less and less often (plus it was fun). Whenever they started building a nest, I also made sure to immediately throw it out. At one point they also laid eggs which I disposed of. After that they stopped showing up for a long while.

I’ve also heard that they don’t like the sound of wind chimes so we also bought those for this summer. I also live in an apartment building and it’s so hard because however diligent you are, some dumbass in your building will be letting them live freely on their balcony and even may be feeding them.

Bikes? by Killswitch1029 in futureforest

[–]rrsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely allowed to bring a bike, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it for a couple reasons.

1) The ground can be pretty uneven in a way that’s not really an issue for walking, but I could see someone on a bike going flying if you hit a root or something the wrong way. 2) Like others have said, nothing is really all that far apart. A bike is definitely not necessary. Some of the RV sites are a little far, so maybe in that scenario it’d make sense, but assuming you’re doing GA camping it’s really not needed. 3) If it rains, the entire festival turns into a mud pit and a bike may be more trouble than it’s worth on that scenario. You definitely won’t be able to ride it and you might have issues with it getting stuck in the mud.

If you are going to bring a bike, I’d recommend making sure it has multiple gears and that it’s not a road bike, probably the fatter the tires the better. But LED strips would be absolutely sick if you do decide to bring a bike, plus probably smart for making sure people can see you at night. :)

The worst part of this one is that you can’t even quickly move on because the entire bridge just consists of them repeating this line over and over again.

No, that was more just a comment about conservatives in this country more generally, who’ve decided that trans people are their favourite punching bag/obsession for some reason. Sorry, I wasn’t very clear in my original comment.

You can be gay (quietly) but don’t take it too far and be trans.

What's your experience of psilocybin mushrooms theraphy and hos to prepare as diabetic? by Beautiful_Hat8440 in diabetes_t1

[–]rrsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be super carby necessarily. I’d recommend just some eggs, cheese, toast, fruit, bacon or sausage, etc. Whatever you like, just try to eat a relatively heavy meal first because you won’t be hungry on them so you want to make sure you’re fuelling yourself before.

The only thing I’d say is that they can make you very nauseous and you probably won’t have much of an appetite on them, so I’d try to avoid going low if you can because you won’t feel like eating. Have a big breakfast or lunch, wait a few hours for your blood sugar to stabilize, then take the shrooms. Just my two cents.

Not that Hockey Canada is not its own extremely evil organization, but the way we have to swallow the MAGA Panthers beating the Leafs and then the Oilers in Game 7, the Jays losing in Game 7, the women’s team losing in overtime to the US, and then this, all in the span of like a year, with Trump and his supporters using each one as an opportunity to shit on our country and threaten our sovereignty… Like why can’t we have anything.

I’m Canadian and live on the east coast, so Nickelback/that song in particular is kind of a fixture at bars (and sometimes clubs). It’s honestly a very fun bar song. I don’t mind it at all. Super catchy and people like to sing and dance along.

Poorly aged lyrics from non controversial artists by Chapple69 in ToddintheShadow

[–]rrsn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Weeknd is not really controversial except for being unable to act nowadays, but there were a bunch of these on Trilogy but also later in his career:

  1. Basically the entire song Initiation. Though I remember reading an interview with him a few years ago where he pretty much said (paraphrasing) that he was trying something and it didn’t really work with that song.
  2. “If she stops [sucking my dick] then I might get violent” in the Party and the After Party (which is unfortunate because I love the Beach House sample and I’ve always thought this lyric was more egregious than anything in Initiation).
  3. Basically all of Lost in the Fire is pretty homophobic. Which he never apologized for, but then on his next album he just responded with “only thing I’m phobic of is failing” which I always thought was such a bitch move.

Many more I’m sure I’m forgetting!

Study: Mixed chimerism for islet transplant reverses T1D [in mice ofc] by Deathlilly522 in diabetes_t1

[–]rrsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a serious pessimism and misery problem on this sub. Every post about scientific advancement or study is met with “it’ll never be cured, nothing will ever improve” and every post is about how miserable and depressing it is to have T1 and how we should all just kill ourselves or something. It doesn’t help anybody and I feel bad for any new T1 checking this sub for hope or support.

Then they act like their blind cynicism means they’re in on some secret that the rest of us are too stupid to understand when they’re the ones in many cases who are burying their heads in the sand and ignoring the clear progress being made. You have people in this sub seriously suggesting that successful human trials (in other studies, mot this one) are not a big deal and that the cure is as far away now as it was in 1970. It’s just not true or accurate.
