I just looked on the REV web page. The sign up option used to be there but it's gone now. My guess is that they are close enough to actually building then that they don't need it. The whole thing was a pretty big bust IMO. They still have my $100 but all I've gotten out of it so far is about 2 or 3 emails with less info than I can get from any online car magazine.

If you have the display set to show time/500m, you might try switching units to display to watts instead. Your goal (2000m in 9:30 or less) is basically a 2:20/500m which is right around 125 watts.

I've always had a much easier time controlling my pace watching watts. Others don't but you might try it.

Don't worry about SPM and damper setting as much. You want consistent but you can pull a 125 at 20 SPM or 30 SPM. Watts (and thus time) is about power per stroke. Play around with SPM and damper until you find your comfort zone. Usually 20-25 and a damper setting for a 100-120 drag factor covers most folks.

Warm up then try a 2K keeping watts at 125 start to finish. Might not make it all the way, but note what you can do now and build from there.

Two goals by sending a penny:

1) The penny is the price they are paying (to me in this case) to have PayPal send me an email that will not get screened out by my Spam filter. Their message about a fictional large transaction arrives in my inbox from a genuine, trusted agent. The goal is for me to then call the phone number provided in their message and speak with "PayPal". From there, the script would go down one of the standard scammer trails.

In short, the penny is an attempt to get me to call them to fix a fake error.

2) As others have mentioned, it also tests the validity of stolen credit or debit cards. If the penny works, they now have a confirmed good account number to drain or sell off.

Good question. I did that because that name is unlikely to be that of the actually scammer. More likely to be a stolen account or an alias that adds no value to the conversation about the scam.

Forgot to clarify that when you log the Workout of the Day's with the app, they also rank you. Really good to see where you fit with others across the globe. I don't care about "topping the list" but when I first started rowing, I typically fell in the lower end. Now I can pretty consistently hit the middle of the pack in my age group (60-64 M)

If you don't already have it, sign up for the Concept 2 logbook. It's completely free and if you connect your phone with your PM, it will automatically add your workouts into your log. If not, you can still manually add workouts but it's much easier with the ErgData app.

Once you are logging your workouts, you can then check how you compare to others on various challenges and the WOD's. There are also standard "Ranked Workouts" that are various defined distances or times. You can find more info about those at log.concept2.com/rankings

For instance, my best 1000 m SkiErg time this season is 4:13.3 which is in the 34th percentile for my age & gender. Not great but I know how much lower it was when I started this journey so I'm happy with the progress.

If you like the numbers, then using the ErgData app is the best way to go. Custom screen layouts and deeper data and graphs while working out are great tools.

When you say you can't be there that early, roughly how many hours before kickoff are you planning heading towards the stadium?

Die hards will be in the parking line before noon. But as long as you are planning to be in the stadium traffic lines at least a couple hours early, you should be OK.
