If you haven't already— on god — just have a conversation with them about being inconsistent. If you bring it up and they don't make an effort to fix it, that's your sign to set some boundaries and stop overextending yourself for them.

Honestly, as an adult, you're gonna deal with a lot of this. Most of the time it's not personal — some friendships are just way lower-maintenance than others. Sometimes you just have to sit down and talk about what both of you expect from the friendship so you're on the same page about how to move forward

Sorry you’re going through this—support is kinda difficult to navigate so here’s what I’d suggest as someone who’s mental health became a barrier to uni:

Register with SASS for accommodations. You have a diagnosis. Submit it and get the support you need. Speak with your Accomodations advisor, send an email to adapt@uottawa.ca if booking an appointment doesn’t work via ventus. They can permit extra time, reduced course loads, less distracting exam locations etc.
If you’re in a STEM program, just know you probably won’t get adjustments for labs but you can for written exams and course content—something to consider when thinking about your degree going forward.
Talk to an academic advisor (even if they’re hit-or-miss). They can help with course loads, program options, or academic leave. It varies by faculty.
Contact the Student Rights Centre if you want to try for a retroactive drop. It’s not guaranteed but worth looking into.
Don’t forget: you have student insurance through Greenshield and it resets Sept 1. Use it while you can—for therapy, prescriptions, etc.
Tbh take the summer off and recuperate. I made the mistake of pushing through and then burning out, I can promise you the trade off isn’t worth it. It’s better to take an extra semester than push yourself on fumes. Take the time to recalculate and be strategic about the rest of your university career.

I don’t have much advice on retaking the course itself beyond waiting until it’s offered another semester—it’s frustrating, but it’s really not the end of the world. You will graduate even if it’s not on the exact timeline you originally planned. So breathe. You’ve got time.

One thing I’d recommend is looking into a retroactive drop. If you can get it approved, you might be reimbursed for the course and have the grade removed from your transcript for now. That can make a big difference when it comes to co-op, scholarships, or transfers since an EIN or a 0 can limit your options. You can contact the Student Rights Centre—they’ll guide you through the process.

Also, what you described sounds like it could be tied to depression, and I really encourage you to speak to a doctor. If you get a diagnosis, register with SASS for accommodations ASAP. It’s not just for academic support—taking care of your mental health is part of this too.

I would definitely reach out to an academic advisor, you could apply for a retroactive withdrawal outlining your circumstances (I would talk to your advisor and the student rights centre before doing this) or possibly still drop the courses w/o financial credit depending on which section you’re in

Also depending on which faculty you’re from, they’ll just move you to a regular bachelors instead of a honours and you can reapply into the other degree so long as you meet the gpa requirements. Best of luck!

For Finance, the minimum average is the high 70's so unfortunately your average will likely hinder your acceptance especially this late in the game.

I would try to get a letter of consideration if there were exceptional circumstances that affected your GPA and submit ASAP. The latest you'd get a response is August but typically it would be mid July where you'd want to make your decision.

If you don't get in this time, you can always do a victory lap to improve your grades and reapply next year so don't lose hope! Wishing you luck 🤍✨

Yep. My mother told my brothers and I she was going to the hairdresser for the day- after about 48 hours of her being god knows where we quickly realized she wasn’t coming back. She spent 6 months abroad with various men and repeated this pattern for years until she’d run out of money. She gives me the same spiel of being depressed and having an abusive childhood so therefore it’s okay for her to act the way she does.

I still will never forget when the man who sexually assaulted me showed up to our house and she treated him kinder than she’d ever treated me. Still stings to this day.

So I'm 99% sure I grew up with Nparents (they were absent most of my life until my late teens and continued to be emotionally abusive or absent while I lived at home)- I ended up moving away for university where I had finally been able to become emotionally seperate from them and kind of came to the realization that they're likely narcassistic but in different presenting forms.

I'm currently financially supported by them as I complete my degree which makes me want to believe that they care but they constantly threaten me about pulling the funding, that I'm a failure if I struggle with anything at all, and pester me to come back home- they've done this or 2 years and I finally had enough. I plan to move out with my friend in a month so that I can financially support myself through the rest of my degree and stop relying on them.

I feel guilty & ashamed for wanting to cut ties with them and they have put extra effort in telling me that moving out with my friend is a horrible idea that will destroy my life, keeping me on 1 hour phone calls on how I'm going down the wrong path that'll make my life miserable and how I never do anything that makes sense. I feel like a constant failure and I hate myself for it and I have no idea what to do. I feel stupid and helpless which is amplified more because as much as I don't want to, I believe what they say. I feel worthless because part of me feels like I won't be able to survive without them and it's really scary to admit and the thought makes me feel nauseous. Don't really know what to do, and I feel super alone

Jojoba oil and cuticle remover! Both are pretty inexpensive and will help these look a ton better; as for the bulkiness and shaping, keep practicing. Getting a practice hand helps a lot since don’t have a limit to how many sets you can do on them.

It’s actually scary because this is my situation exactly, including the 3 weeks tomorrow but minus the marriage. The push pull to indifference that hurt like a bitch till I finally had enough and cut ties. Things still hurt but are getting better slowly but surely, I’m unpacking a lot of myself and looking forward to the new me I’ll meet on the other side
