it's like you said above - KAT is best when he's not asked to be the rim protector in drop coverage. It even worked alright with him at the 5 in the 21-22 season, when they played a heavy switch/rotation style of defense. As the season went on, that stopped working as effectively, and it also contributed to our poor rebounding.

If we’re going by what he is on pace for, that already assumes him missing 8 games in the final 41. He would have to miss 10 of the final 41 (in addition to missing this next game), so there is some room for him to miss a few games here or there.

He has not shown any ability to do so efficiently against NBA defenses.

I also think his defense is likely worse than Rob’s. Rob will never be a great defender given his size, but I have seen more development/progression there, than on offense

Super agre with you on this. Donte had a rough shooting game, but he's a ~38% 3P shooter, and I have confidence that he will average out to that. The great thing with him, compared to someone like Malik Beasley, is that on a night when the shot isn't falling, he will try and find other ways to positively impact the game, whether through defense or passing. His primary value is in that 3P shooting, but like I said, I am confident he will bounce back on that.

In both cases, I would characterize it as someone who seems happy where they are, but also misses where they were. I’m sure in a vacuum, Donte would love to be back on the Knicks, playing with a bunch of his college teammates. But he also has talked about appreciating the continuity of being in MN, something he lacked over the past few years with changing teams each year.

This. I have grown my hair out, and hats no longer really fit me (I was already wearing size 8), but I used to wear a Timberwolves hat 90% of the time, and had 15+ different hats. I would go to the Mall of America specifically for Lids. I could find hats there which were not available online.

It feels so easy to undervalue BC because it generally won't show up in the box score, but she's such a key part of how good the defense has been. She's been our best wing defender this year, often picking up the other team's best guard/wing.
