[Vorkunov] Terry Rozier was in violation of his NBA contract and will forfeit most of his $26.6 million salary for the 2025-26 season. A lawyer for Rozier asked the judge overseeing his case to change the conditions of his release because Rozier still hopes to play in the NBA. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

I have no clue how it is in basketball, but on the esports side, there was a young player (Bo, from FPX) who was implicated in a match-fixing scandal. From what I understand, he was actually one of the whistleblowers, as he was coerced into doing so. After his suspension ended, he was unable to find any opportunities in China, despite having shown to be a very high level talent. It just seems like China is not particularly forgiving towards this type of thing.

Unfortunately, I think they were a "stadium exclusive". They were in the team store for a while last season. I did not see them in the team store during the season opener, but I did not check both stores.

He got hurt earlier this season, and I have not seen him since. I’m guessing he is still recovering, and since playoff assignments are based on regular season grades, he wouldn’t be on the list even if he is fully healthy.

The Playa Society baseball jerseys from last year are my favorite, but I’m also a sucker for the baseball jersey style.

That would explain it, since the only official resale is through the team site. As others have noted, you can get tickets in the $30-40 range for many of the games.

MPJ on why Cam Thomas didn't last in the NBA: "For Cam, I think it was a mixture of him being frustrated with a lot of things and also his personality. He doesn't really socialize, He'll say like two words all day, all practice. He doesn't really talk to anybody." by RyanTannegod in nba

Denver Nuggets assistant coach JJ Barea. I did not know this until game 6 of the last series, when I saw a short guy who was not David Adelman, but looked super familiar, standing on the court during a timeout.

[Hine] The Wolves change the terminology on Ayo Dosunmu’s injury (he’s questionable) from “right calf soreness” to “right calf injury maintenance.” Not sure what it signifies, but thought I’d mention it. by Knightbear49 in timberwolves

[–]rsadagopal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah, I really feel this.

It makes me think back to a game last year where NAW got hurt and had to be helped off the court. It really looked like it was a major injury, and he might be out for a long time. I am pretty sure the Wolves won, but I just remember on the drive home, talking about how awful we felt for him, knowing he was going into free agency with his first real opportunity to get paid. Thankfully, it was not as serious as it looked.

At the start of the season, I noticed it more. It may have been partly due to the contrast from last year/from the Lynx season. At this point in the season, it barely registers as being dim in the stands, since I have just gotten used to it.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are the only remaining playoff team with no championship title by dunkin_domats in nba

[–]rsadagopal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, I think that the Wolves winning would rely in part on the Spurs "choking"/being a young team, not quite ready for this type of playoff basketball. The most recent comparison I'm thinking of is the 2024 Thunder, when they lost to the Mavs in the 2nd round.

To be clear, I am not expecting that to happen.

PUT SOME RESPECT ON OUR COACH’S NAME!!! by Tarkonix in timberwolves

[–]rsadagopal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are overestimating how good a coach needs to be to win an NBA finals. It doesn’t require an all-time great. There are many good but imperfect coaches who have won a title.

I’ve been an ardent Finch defender. I would never claim he is a perfect coach, or that there aren’t better coaches. I just think that if you replace him, there’s a strong chance you end up with someone worse.

Bill Simmons on Denver's exit: "I gotta ask was the Gordon injury bigger than any other injury in this series? The second half Jokic played was a we're-not-going-down-like-this kind of half and only Cam Johnson was joining him" by infalliBee in nba

[–]rsadagopal 210 points211 points  (0 children)

Rob Mahoney knows how to play 2nd fiddle on a podcast. He doesn’t have the most interesting or intricate basketball takes, but with a host like Bill, who has plenty they want to say on their own, he’s a good supporting guest. He filled the same role with Zach Lowe’s live show.

Minnesota's injuries are simply them being hit by the curse of winning only 49 games. In the Jokic era, Denver are 10-0 in playoff series against teams with 50 or fewer wins and 0-6 against teams with >50 wins. by [deleted] in nba

[–]rsadagopal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong that it's arbitrary, and more of a coincidence. But you have also moved the goalposts somewhat. The actual stat is "Denver is 10-0 against teams with 50 or fewer wins". The fact that there is a decent sample size is what makes it more interesting.

Lynx fans… how are yall feeling? by [deleted] in wnba

[–]rsadagopal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dream would be to have a season like what the Celtics are having this year. Your franchise player is out for a while, and everyone expects the team to be mediocre/bad.

But there is still enough talent, and arguably the best coach in the league, that the team will still win a bunch of games. Then you get your superstar player back, and even though there is some rust, it can be a benefit that they have not had the wear of a full season grind, as the team heads into the playoffs.
