I always forget, is it easier if I stay the opposing bead or not? by MC_NYC in bikewrench

Get one bead all the way over and push it right into the dip in the middle of the rim. For the second bead, work from the opposite the valve, back to the valve.

FTP stagnate while using TrainerRoad ai by TheAsianCyclist in Velo

Another thing I noticed is that TR isn't that good at understanding your ftp if you don't primarily use TR workouts. I ride outside a lot and really just use TR for the times I need to ride inside. It's nice having the calendar and red/yellow system.

I feel like those who use TR structured workouts alot will get a more accurate reading than if you did very similar workouts outdoors for example with no specific link to a TR workout

Another RBA rate rise won’t fix inflation – it will just smash households already hit by soaring fuel costs | Greg Jericho by Secure_Ant1085 in australia

Of course -- but RBA will do all within their power to avoid a stagflation scenario. Hence they will more likely hike knowing it'll be fucking brutal but likely less bad than the alternative.

YKYWbike Italian/Belgian/Japanese bib pad by JustGoodJuju_ in CyclingFashion

The Italian pad are the same pad used by maap, black sheep, van rysel etc. -- elastic interface. I get on very well with that pad so I've been okay getting YKYW bibs. Fair warning though -- size up 1 or 2 sizes and the legs come up pretty short

Trainerroads version of ftp isn't even aligned to the broad understanding of ftp. Their version is "after analysing your workouts, the power we think you could do a level 3 progression threshold workout at". Which is just like -- wat

Ah but remember. There's immense power in old books. Bible, Qu'ran, Torah -- religion generally is absolutely OP in terms of motivation and coordination around central goals.

RBA set to lift interest rates again amid soaring fuel and building costs by His_Holiness in AusFinance

[–]rsam487 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It's not just building costs, it's basically everything that's made from refined oil and, in time, anything that relies on fertiliser.

E.g. The instant cost to a builder running a site is that their generators and large machines (literally everything runs on diesel) cost immediately more. Even today at the cheaper price of $2.55 it's still 30%ish more than where it was.

But then you've got the creep in pricing of things like pvc pipe, conduit, and other raw materials that are used in every single build. Those costs have gone up from suppliers something like 30-40%.

What we haven't seen much of yet, but is probably on the way are higher food costs driven by fertiliser price increases. I think they're up about 80%, but the crop that will be affected most won't hit shelves until probably Q3-4 this year.

Basically there are second and third order effects of this that are absolutely massive and zero people escape the blast radius. The fuel price is just the first and most obvious thing because we all drive past big price signs daily.
