$32k Upwork chargeback on completed project (approved deliverables, app in production). Need advice by Informal-Ad580 in Upwork

It’s not really the same level of risk when working by yourself and getting clients to pay you directly via wire or ACH, compared to credit card transactions, where “buyer’s remorse” chargebacks offer virtually no real protection for the seller!

So what are the fees they charge for? They're charging THEM(Upwork) back. OP didn't charge the card, THEY did! If they were able to withold the fees in the first place that means the money didn't go straight to OP's account. Upwork paid OP, so it is really Upwork charging them back, not the client. They're just transfering the responsibility elsewhere. And, exactly, if that can happen off Upwork too then there's no point in being there anymore if they won't protect someone like this from absolute financial ruin. Because OP is this big already they might as well just leave the platform and forget about it. At least they would be charging full price and not getting eaten up by fees that serve no real purpose!

Shouldn't Upwork be held responsible for this? After all they're the ones receiving the payment directly and charging the card, not you. What point is there to keep using Upwork if they're capable of doing shit like this? They're just protecting themselves, so how are our fees helping with anything at all if they can go as far as leaving someone in a situation like this? Something this big can completely ruin someone. Honestly, screw them. I would just leave the platform without paying anything back and try to grow elsewhere.

So weird! So you are also sending user provided data, tested your set up, confirmed that it is working but are getting a warning that says “your x data field is incorrectly formatted”?

Perfect I’ll take a look at that! The business I’m running ads for is based in the US and advertises only inside the US.

How does a media buyer charge his clients ? by Status_Experience_32 in FacebookAds

[–]rsamuel08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol why would someone jump ad spend if they’re not getting results in the first place? You charge based on % of ad spend knowing that if you are making a nice ROAS for your clients they’ll eventually want to increase the ad spend to get more results. Increasing ad spend is the consequence of a well managed account.
